Yeah, well, considering they probably never heard actual quality headphones before that's no great surprise. Personally, I recommend a dedicated mic (like a Blue Yeti) and a real pair of headphones -- ATH-M50, AKG Q-701, Sennheiser HD598, etc -- vs a dedicated gaming headset any day. It'll cost less, too.

Of course, I do believe AudioTechnica can make a good headset, and for people looking to spend some cash this is likely the way to go, no question... I just don't want a mic sticking out the side of my head all the time.
 
Just a psa for anyone interested: Those are basically rebranded A700X / AD700X, which cost less than half. They are decent, too. I own AD700Xs and they sound great and are comfy as hell. Just get a pair of those and a standalone mic.
 
Looks like, essentially, a reskin/rebrand of my trusty ol' ATH-AG1s. Slightly increased impedance. Not opening my wallet anytime soon :)
