The android market - whats it like?

hey, im getting a HTC Hero very soon, and i have previously owned the ipod touch, and i love the app market, there is a huge range of games, but what is the android market like compared to the 'app store' i understand its not 'as good' but what do you people think of it?
 
I find it every bit as good as the iTunes app store. All the regular apps i used on my iPhone exist on Android. games may not be quite as good but they're getting better every day and the store is expanding quickly.

Coding. Some of the games on Android are getting quite impressive and are easily on par or better then iPhone IMHO.
 
The market is good but needs work. I never thought the iPhone market was great, especially not the one on the phone itself. They do function differently, especially when it comes to ranking things.

There isn't really a "hub" like iTunes for Android apps either. There is http://www.android.com/market/ but it doesn't have QR codes to easily download the apps/games and is actually a bit less helpful than the Market on the phone. That being said there are plenty of websites that have lots of helpful info and lists of apps including:

etc etc, there are a lot

That being said the Market is improving and should be getting better as constant updates come out.
I hope the next update allows us to sort by Popularity & Date added at the same time....not including updated apps
