The Samurai Punk guys are building their new VR game, The American Dream, and they have a pretty funny video of how they see America that is embedded below. Too bad they could not put as much effort into their VR on-the-rails shooter game that looks like my kids did the graphics. A swing and a miss punks. All press is good press, right?

...wow, looks like a video we might have made in jr high. the creativity!

but yeah - game itself looks... hmmm... what do you call those free flash or java games like "bubble shooter" you can play on a web page? (I might have expected this quality as a demo back when some of the first oculus dev kits came out for people to try).

True, but the VR headset has only one real practical application at home and that's gaming. Maybe media consumption in general but primarily gaming.

Just like crap 3D and bad pricing never allowed 3D TV's to get off the ground very long, crap games and very high prices are going to keep the VR land pretty stagnant, hopefully not too long to actually kill it or keep it permanently niche like IR tracking and voice control and stuff

Then again... If someone throws a ton of money into VR Porn there may be a second path to take... At least they'd get the basement dweller's money lol

Buddy of mine had a neat idea. A lot of our work is done on computers as is in a nice boring office setting. Well when vr screens get high enough resolution (if not already) you could have it display your monitors in front of you but change your surroundings to maybe a beach front. You could still do productive work but in a lower stress environment. Sometimes just putting on headphones isn't enough to escape.

Apparently you are not up to date or have a HMD.

Uh oh, I am in trouble with the PR lady now that I did not say great things about her spa....I mean PR about the game.

For me, gaming is huge. Probably the #1 driver.

Second would be educational things. Walking the deck of the Titanic. Walking on the moon. Riding on the Space Shuttle. Watching a battlefield from a hilltop. Experiencing history without being there.

Pretty on par for graphics in VR thus far. In other words. REALLY BAD!

It was mildly amusing.

Maybe they should be running an improv show instead of making VR games :p

Looks like the non game trailer was made by Loading Ready Run (I spot some cast members), who are a gaming comedy group out of Canuckstania, so you aren't that far off. Their stuff is pretty funny, and they are also responsible for the Child's Play Desert Bus event every year. (y)
