ok, i am really looking into geting one of these to put over my slk900u hs cooling a barton 2500+, i want it to be as cool as possible! I have anyone of you have experience with it, if you have is it

1) Super good cooling?, i want to have the most cooling possible

2) Super loud, i usually have my z560's blaring and i use audio 90's blaring at night

3) can it cut pencils/fingers, i have herd stories...

4) is it good for cpu, if not, what are other CPU FANS i can use other then a 2700 rpm, 32cfm Antec Case Fan

thank you!

1. Yes.
2. Yes. Annoyingly so.
3. Yes.
4. I use something different. I don't like noise.

i had one, switched it out to an antec, and lost 1*C under full load. i could hear this thing upstairs with the door closed, no joke. your 680's will definatly not be able to drown it out, i promise.

will this panaflo cool better then the antec case fan, or get my load down from 42C?

get a tornado and a fan controller. or, run the tornado at 7v constantly. the 680's will probably be able to drown out 1 tornado (i have 2, whee) and the 90's will definitely be able to (i had a pair, but they crapped out on me so i'm currently looking for a really sweet pair)

good luck if you buy one, though.

oh, i haven't tried to cut anything with one, but they probably could.

i'm running a 2500+ under a slk-900u with a 92mm tornado at the moment :p . it will provide excellent cooling, but i don't think it's worth the noise. i currently have the fan running at 7 volts and the noise doesn't bother me at all.

1. Yea, with two in my case I have 60F motherboard temps and 85F cpu idle.
2. So loud I couldn't sleep with it turned on, and all it takes is 1.
3. Thin Plastic Fins spinning at almost 6000 RPM.
4. yes it is.

you wont be getting much lower than that with air cooling... but the noise definatly is NOT worth the 1*C you may knock off of that temperature

I've got a case with spots for 5. I've about decided to try 5 tornados just to see what would happen.

omfg... i cant even tell you how fucking loud thats gonna be... please save your $50 now... you'll regret it

Yeah, but I might get it to lift off :p

Since I have owned one of these abominations, I can tell you first off, DON'T underestimate how much noise it makes. This thing sounds like a small vacuum cleaner when running at full speed.

Second, this thing has enough power to move itself acrass a desk quite rapidly.

Third....it will turn a post it note to confetti....if you love your fingertips, use a fan grill. I fear it may be able to damage wires on contact as well.

Really, I think fans like that have no place inside a PC, they are rather hazardous when you look at the noise level, the finger chop value, and the obscene airflow. Servers ahve a legitimate use, but still fans like that only came into use due to CPU designers not thinking about thermal output.

It WILL lower your temps, possibly greatly. Just make sure you understand what kind of beast you are dealing with. I was told to stop using it or I'll get evicted....it's really that loud (I run my pc 24-7).

i've got an 80mm tornado running on my cpu, and it works well enough. a tad noisy, but i don't even notice it anymore. that's what studio headphones are for, right? :p

You would get evicted?!? HAHAHAHA

I have 3 Smartfan 2's running 24/7... they are about 50dba I think. I cant sleep with my computer off now... and when I cant hear them, I think something is wrong and I carress my floppy...

:D

:p

Anyways, if its any louder than my smartfan2's (which Im positive it is) then it is definitly unbearable. Ide like to grab one just for shits and giggles though.

They will eat your children, if you have any.

Though they will cool like nothing else out there [air wise]

They are louder than a pornstar in heat, so be warned.

the main reason i like the tornado, are the counter fins... so the air doesnt flow like a V, it flows like an "I" straight line

ohhh, tornado, you dont even know, that thing is locked up in a small metal box with a padlock, i bought one, installed it, turned the comp on, turned the comp off, uninstalled, it, and promtply ordered a panaflo 60cfm 92mm fan thats 32db@12v its does an excellent job of cooling, and my temps are acutally lower because effiecient airflow is what counts not massive cfms. and what everyone said about the noise, is soooo true, that POS fan is the devil, i was playing around with the grill off(bad idea:( ) and my finger got caught in it, i had to go to the hospital and get 3 stiches no kidding. it will eat your children. its a monster, i will send you mine if you like...

I want to replace all the fans in my case with tornado's and bring it to a LAN. :D Wonder what kind of reactions I would get.

Probably make you sit outside with an extension cord and a really long cat5 cable :D

I would prolly be the smartass to leave, go to teh local rat shack, buy all teh parts for a massive rheobus, bring it back, and draw a schematic for it, and hand it to you.

I'm subtle like that ;)

what the....

tornado's are really really loud. I had one 80 and one 92 in my last computer and it was the first time i couldnt sleep with my computer on.

You really dont need a tornado right on top of a heatsink, in my opinion, a tornado is best blowing air into the case, especially if you have a side panel with a fan slot, the tornado can really cool the case down. I ran my tornado like that for about two weeks... then I couldnt stand it, there just way too freaking loud. Enermax makes a sweet 92 mm fan that moves alot of air with not too much noise.

I guess I must have Selective Hearing. I have 4x Delta 80CFM 80mm in my case. I hardly even notice them and no Im not deaf. I can just block out the sound.

speaking of sidewinder and delta fans..
i've got two of the delta 120's..and wow.. they blow the house away compared to the tornado's..

Well, a guy comes to our lans in Jacksonville, FL with 3 of em... The only reason we don't make him leave is because of his Vantec Nexus on them...

What's ironic, after 3 Tornados, his other 11 (!!!) fans are all Stealths... Why you have stealths after tornados? GOOD F****** QUESTION!!

I'm running the Tornado on the below listed computer. And honestly... I feel airflow through the room with the case closed. That thing spins anywhere from 5900 - 6300 depending on where I take the RPM from. Bios or AsusProbe. I was using a Volcano 11 and thought that was loud. Sheesh. But It did make a big cooling difference between my Volcano 11 and the Tornado. I dropped my CPU temp from 36-38 idle, to about 32 idle, with windows running. I consider that a decent difference. Next in the plans! Overclocking. Although I need better ram first. :)

Yeah, you should beware of any case fan with stator blades. I have 3 in my system. (I thank god every day that I built myself a rheobus)

I got a 230 CFM finger eater (metal blades). I haven't installed it in a comp yet... sucker sounds like a siren as it spins up and it takes around a minute to completely spin down.

Ok, try this. Place a large blowdrier on the other side of your room. Turn it on full. Now, try to go to sleep. This is but a taste of the tornado. And yes, it will eat your children.

tornado is a great fan to use just get a fanbus or something on there. then u can have the cooling when you need it and can turn them down to go to sleep :p

i was running 4 tornado on a fanbus, and they did a great job.

it was actualy quieter than the servers at work (they use 8 delta 80mm fans!!!)

but with all4 all the way up, it was pretty nasty.

i can say this

tornado fans are ewhy im watercooled today;)

holy.....

whered you get it? i wanna put one on my heatsink and see if my side panel flies off into my lcd :D

Does anyone have video of one of these things taking the tip off a pencil?
