No 32 OLED on the horizon, sadly. They're only making larger panels with the new tech for the TV market.

Also - the Acer is announced for May, and I interpret the Asus as an April release in China - so probably a May release in the NA/EU markets
Not true: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/lg-32EP950-27GP950-ces
Shown here with a video clearly targeted at the professional market with a video featuring Davinci Resolve:

But I'm certain that even on this enthusiast forum, no one will buy it due to cost. I would be surprised if more than 1 person on these forums total buy any of these models.
To be clear though this will be 60Hz, so not 120+Hz so I suppose it's also beyond the scope of this thread as everyone here is specifically looking for 32" 120+Hz models.

EDIT: It's hilarious reading all the Youtube comments on that video though. A bunch of gamers thinking that monitor is for them. They'll experience massive sticker shock at the $5000 price and 60Hz and complain that it's "too much money waaahhh" and "no 120Hz in 2021? WTF?" if and when they see the spec sheet.

There's a lot of us out here who want 32 inch panels who aren't being served. I'm not sure why there's such a big gap, people on Reddit seem to love 27 inch monitors and think they're the perfect size. And now, everyone is buying a 48 inch TV to use as a monitor. 32 is honestly perfect for me, I've had a 32 inch monitor for 4 years now and I don't really want a difference size (maybe a 38 in ultrawide). The monitor industry just sucks right now, it's bad timing with two new GPU launches, one happening now and another around the corner.

Reddit is just a giant clump of lemmings, they got obssessed with the PPI of 27 inch monitors delivering the 'perfect' comptetive edge. I know this because my Brothers gaming group are a bunch of reddit followers and I've asked many questions.

That's a fair assessment, I'm just worried about the demand for 32+ inch monitors I supposed. I feel like there's a market but I don't know how big it is, and that will ultimately determine the amount produced (and their cost frankly).

That is how industry appears to be acting.

It's like each one is waiting for someone else to be first... and then they'll see how sales are going - and then if sales are good, undercut by $23.14 and call it 'competing on price'. My 'feelz' say that if 3070 and above had hit the gamer/enthusiast market in large numbers last fall, we'd be seeing announcements all over the place.

True as of the time of posting. Nice to see that CES changes the horizon - but if you follow the info, the LG is probably the end of the year at the earliest. My cynical side points out that CES 2020 showcased the Asus and Acer... And here we are.
LG will be faster to market, not because they're so ahead of the curve but for two reasons: first off they own the entire product stack (as in they aren't sourcing their panels from anyone else and the same with the electronics, they'll build the entire thing themselves) and secondly because of the target demo, which is the professional market. They aren't really swayed by the fickle nature of gamers etc.
They obviously are looking to compete with Apple and Eizo primarily (and Viewsonic who is another new entrant) to the "lower end" professional display market at around the $3000-$6000 bracket. Getting a product out there sooner is just beneficial since they're trying to move volume, since we're talking about a low volume, high-priced, high-margin product. I'd say Q4 at the latest.
It'll likely still be years before we see a consumer based product that's based on OLED in these sizes though. I'd say we're at least two years away from a mass market 32" OLED display at minimum and up to 4 years away at worst. It just has a lot to do with Samsung and LG investing in making motherglass in sizes that make sense for 27-32".

Sorry - that's incorrect. JOLED supplies the smaller panels - and I think they're currently committed to / stuck with 60hz stock.
"Update 13.1.2021: JOLED has today confirmed in a statement that LG's OLED monitor features a JOLED panel"
https://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1610378125

LG's surprise announcement at CES only confirmed to me that industry thinks there is a 32 inch market, and they want to say that they're participating in it... But LG's move does not commit them to glass that they can't move if development of that market is slow/weak.

Now - it would actually be great news if the medical community wants 32s (from a glass standpoint). I'm not sure, however, that non gamers have embraced or even understand higher refresh rates

I'm sooo excited for this size monitor. I can't even believe it doesn't exist at this point. I'm in the process of replacing my OG Acer Predator X34 due to some shitty movers and I was really hoping to spend that money on a 4k 32" 100+hz HDR 1000+ monitor but they just aren't out there.

To be clear - the size does exist. You just can't get one that checks all the boxes
  • 32"
  • 4k
  • >60hz
  • IPS / OLED
The sticking point is the refresh rate.

You can, for example, do something horrible to yourself like buy a 32" 1080p.

https://www.displayninja.com/best-32-inch-monitors/

Or a 4k IPS @ 60, or 1440 VA @ 240 etc.

The perfect display does not exist right now. I want something 32" - 38" with 4K, 120+ Hz, quantum dot VA, and maybe G-Sync. The LG OLEDs are the closest thing right now, but they are too large, and I wouldn't expect their longevity to be that great, particularly being used as a monitor.

I had a 65" LG OLED (2018 model I think). When I moved I gave it away since Netflix and Google TV had burned into it so bad. Not to mention a 'dead' pixel that moved up when the TV was turned on and down when it was turned off in addition to a vertical line of pixels that were just completely out no matter what (though it was harder to see in 1080p content). I will never own another OLED.

Thanks for the warning!

All I hear is people singing OLEDs praises
Mostly people that have not had them long I would imagine.

I have one and it has completely changed how I watch TV. I no longer have the TV on as background noise, I no longer watch the news, and I watch less shows that have logos. I will probably go back to a quantum dot VA LCD.

If I had a home theater and could justify the expense for ONLY watching movies and then immediately leaving the room then I MIGHT get another one. The thing that bothered me the most was the desaturation of the center of the screen where people tend to be. Skin took on weird tints and just looked unnatural. I'll be honest though, the opening scene of John Wick 2 is a night and day difference on the LG OLED vs my 2020 Vizio P Quantum X. The OLED just DRIPPED that sharp color contrast with the black that made it look incredible. I will miss that. I just can't afford a TV every year.

These all sound like positive things to me.
I am tired of it how trying to baby an OLED has negatively impacted my routine. I am ready to just watch whatever I want, let it burn in relatively soon, and move on to something else.

The problem is OLED picture is so much better than everything else I can almost justify just buying a new one every 2 years.

I had prominent burn-in after 6 months. It was only enjoyable a fraction of the time I owned it. Then I spent a year cursing the thing every time I turned it on. Again, I agree with the sentiment regarding picture quality. I love those displays for what they are but I equate it to what it'd be like dating a porn star. It's a great experience for a very specific use case but outside of that it's a bitch to live with long term.

Meanwhile my 1 year old living room C9 has had heavy use for gaming and media and my CX has been in daily use as a desktop monitor for nearly 9 months now. No burn in on either.

My porn star is quite homey, no problem. 4 years in total, 1 issue non-related to burning in, knock on wood, but I wouldn't say no to a wealthier girl... From the Acer or Asus families.

True but my 75" Sony 940E from 2017 gets closer than anything else I've seen, without the burn-in. This display was a unicorn. 95 % of the performance of the Z9D that was twice the price. Sony got wise and this was the last display they made that was so close in performance to the flagship.

I will literally cry when this thing dies.

Update on the PG32UQX. Looks like it might actually hit its April rumored release: https://www.tftcentral.co.uk/blog/a...esolution-144hz-g-sync-ultimate-and-hdr-1400/

I might actually get it if it doesnt suck. $3k is absurd but Im tired of having either a OLEd that is bigger than my desk or monitors that have huge contrast issues. While IPS, I would assume that many dimming zones should help with contrast a lot.

I would consider it at half of that price. The choice to go IPS is disappointing as there is not much that can be done about low contrast ratios and IPS glow. They really should have gone with a quantum dot VA panel.

My local shop specializing in gaming monitors has it listed for June for the price of $8700. They assured me that this would be the real price of the PG32UQX for our local market. Probably you guys, living in the advanced world, will have it for much less.
I humbly hope that the Predator X32 will be remotely affordable. Even then... What I really want is the 38" ultrawide of the same specs.

IPS glow we will have to see, but it’s older smaller cousin PG27uq could achieve good contrast, and the ProArt version of this monitor can do the same. Good FALD can help a lot.

The 27" has been available for several years... So unrelated to the upcoming PG32UQX. I guess you just have moneys to burn.

Edit: ok, nvm, I didn't get your post with the first attempt. 🤪 The juju flew over my head.

FWIW I have a 2019 Sony A9F, panel on time is 8610 hours and no burn, no dead pixels, just a fantastic (calibrated) picture. Some people may have had bad luck but from what I see on AVS Forums and AV Forums, most people have no issues....

I have a 48cx, but its a bit too big (that's what she said) for "productivity work" (pron).

I use to have an Acer X27 and remember that to be pretty decent for "productivity" and "web surfing" (pron).

I had been trying to hold off and wait for the 32" (what she said) but just can't take the 48" anymore (also what she said). So I figured lets get this 32" orgy started (what she said) and use my bad ju ju. It never fails, the moment I buy a stock it tanks, the moment I buy a high end item a superior one releases soon and tanks my resale, etc, etc.

So I did a search in the hard forum for sale and noticed a member had been trying to sell a PG27UQ a few months back so I PM'd him.....it was a long shot, so while I was waiting for a response I ended up buying one on ebay as well.......Thus two PG27UQs.

The one from Ebay arrived today and HO LEE FUK, the idiot seller from KANADUUHHHH shipped the monitor and stand IN THE SAME UNORIGINAL BOX with only like 3" of packing peanuts and a thin layer of bubble wrap around the monitor and stand. The box was a duct taped jalopy mess that appeared to have been to hell and back (Event Horizon) and when I opened it the monitor stand was resting sideways on top of the display...WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK!

There was a big ass crack in the bezel and the monitor would not power on....so needless to say I now have a refund / return claim into the bay.

I'm amazed that the screen is not smashed all to hell....maybe it is if I could power it on and see...I dunno...what a fucking train wreck.....seriously what kind of idiot ships a high end monitor from KANADUHHH to Central Florida like this???
