I see. What I'm noticing now is the smaller sample size that TFTC tests. from 0-255 HUB tests a lot more transitions so I would assume that their results are more accurate due to having a larger sample size that looks like 2-3 times more data points. I guess at the end of the day the PG32UQ is still respectable, just that we are all used to faster IPS panels by now.

So i finished reading the whole review , i can say this review seems much more in depth than HWUB did , and the issue with response times doesn't even seem half as bad as HWUB painted
not sure if they measure better or what not , but the data TFTCentral looks more within the specs of the monitor, its not super-fast but defiantly not as slow as HWUB said it was.



I've attached the G2G test they did , on 144hz with OD level 4 it had average 6.6ms refresh well within the 6.9ms window of 144hz with virtually 0 overshoot
pretty far from the 8.8ms with overshoot HWUB claims , even at the 155Hz they do 6.5 average
Input lag was also virtually non existing and was all pixel response rather then signal processing

there are some downsides to this monitor like no variable overdrive which is a problem but i believe not much an issue considering future hardware will be able to push higher framerate than what we have today

TLDR
This monitor does deliver , I WILL be getting this as soon as I can.

if HDMI 2.1 and consoles 4k/120@4:4:4 doesn't matter to you the FI32U is better in some areas even if 'hdr400' vs 'hdr600' (which is b.s on both imo)

I feel dumb I read the whole article and your post and I have almost no idea what this is telling me in real world use.

I have a AMD 6600 and Nvidia 3080, and will use it for both work and gaming. I don't play FPS, but do play games like HZD and RDR2 and pretty much nothing in first person. I will mostly play Action RPGS like POE, Last Epoch, MMOs like WOW, New World, Lost Ark and games like Horizon Zero Dawn and Red Dead Redemption 2, also play some Ark with a friend. I have a 4K 32" 60Hz monitor that is dying and flickers like mad in G-Sync compatible mode. Will this monitor allow me to run these games at higher frame rates and smoother than now.

At 4K even with a 3080 most titles are not running at 4K 144Hz either, and I don't want to run at 2K to just get high refresh rates. Would appreciate some insight

If you cant hit 60fps now , higher refresh rate wont help, unless your monitor is really unusable I'd wait another year for next round of 32/4k/144hz, otherwise its basically a sidegrade

I have a NVIDIA 3080 so my PC is about as fast as anyones. I think POE runs at like 200 FPS and WOW can run 144 FPS+. I was saying I dont think you can get that in say HZD or RDR2 or like a Cyberpunk. I was just making a comment that for most AAA titles I dont think the 3080 will even run them at 144Hz. I mean HZD runs around 90FPS at native

It’s not so much the sample size but the different testing methodology. HUB moved to a method where they measure a larger part of the response time curve, whereas TFTC favour a more traditional tolerance, but with gamma correction of the measurements. They’ve explained both methods and their thinking about the HUB 3-97% method, and rationale for selecting their method in this article.

So in a nutshell, HUB results will always look slower than anywhere else really if you look only at the figures.

You can see form the provided pursuit camera photos though that real world performance of the PG32UQ looks good, and fairly similar to the FI32U despite the “slower” response times. They are slower, but not enough to make a major difference to real usage it seems. Not to the extent of the PG32UQX which suffered from some much slower transitions, causing pale blur, despite the average g2g figures being quite similar (again in the HUB comparison)

Ah so that's why. Thanks for clarifying, and yeah that 32UQX is something else. I would still argue that for purely PC gaming and you don't care about HDR, the Aorus is still a better pick. If you need to have full HDMI 2.1 bandwidth for consoles or want a slightly better (but still lacking) HDR experience then the PG32UQ is really the only choice you have anyways.

I have a 3090 FE with just One HDMI 2.1 output. Can i use the DP 1.4 port for 4K@144hz/HDR?

The thing is:
I don’t want to switch everytime, because the 3090 is already hooked to the OLED in the living room by a HDMI 2.1 Cable.

Yes ,your DP port is just fine to fully use this monitor

I know it's better since they multi-threaded the engine a few years back but Isn't POE still generally CPU bound once you start trying to push for really high framerates. And with the gameplay running at 60Hz on the server, does the higher FPS even really get you anything?

Maybe. I just really don't understand the overdrive stuff and how it relates to VRR and what upgrade I would see from a 60Hz monitor in real world usagae

Thanks, just ordered one as well. I've had terrible luck so far. The biggest issue has been poor white uniformity - large areas of yellow discoloration on the screen. I know it's totally luck of the draw but I'm currently using a $450 60hz 32" 4K LG IPS (32UN650) that is perfect in this regard so I know it's possible to make a display without the issue. In fact the LG has zero back light bleed and very little IPS glow. Probably one of the best IPS displays I've owned in this regard. But I really want to replace it with a high refresh model. It's ridiculous that these ~$1K displays keep having these issues.

My track record so far:
  • FI32U - Poor white uniformity and dead pixel
  • FI32U Replacement - Poor white uniformity
  • XV322QK - White uniformity actually good, dead pixel right off center of screen. Minor thing but also has terrible OSD buttons.
  • M32U - Poor white uniformity
I think I'm done with Gigabyte's 32" offerings at this point. Let's see what ASUS can bring to the table. If it also has issues I'll likely just give up and stick to 60hz for a while longer.
 
Snagged as well! One interesting thing to note is that it looks like there is a possible version using a fast ips panel similar to the Acer XB323K. The release date for that seems pretty far out based on the latest from pcmonitors.info (Post) so it’s likely Q1/Q2 of next year. The slightly higher brightness and lower response times don’t seem worth the wait to me particularly if it has other trade offs (ie no mention of quantum dot)

My order says October 14-30. In my experience Amazon's pretty conservative with the dates. Many times I order something with an estimate that far out and it shows up a lot earlier. Who knows with shipping delays and whatnot these days though.

I'm surprised it's still available for order right now - they must have quite a few coming in.

The rear mounted OSD controls are a big fat nope for me. They're in a location that would be completely inaccessable due to the secondary displays I have on either side of my main one.

That's because Techspot IS in fact.....HWUB. They are the same, basically the website version whille HWUB is the youtube version. Just look at the author's name

Ugh why does it have to have crappy OSD navigation. LG and Gigabyte's joysticks work perfectly without the need for any additional buttons. Should just be standard by now.
 
What for do you guys need an OSD? I have my Monitor now since 2015 and I have not used the OSD for years now.

In the beginning I made the necessary changes for me and that’s it.
So i can’t really comprehend why this should be critical in any way for the decision to buy… imho

This monitor has things like the gaming settings that you might want to enable/disable or change frequently. Some folks change settings based on the content they are viewing, ie Desktop, Game, movie, etc. The Settings software can quit working after some windows revision/upgrade or version change, can't rely on that for the long run. The OSD interface can be important. Before the joysticks they could be a real nightmare.
 
I'll be using it for productivity and gaming so my primary use case will be to switch from low blue light mode to "regular" mode. Might be able to set up some shortcut key in the OSD to do that, will have to see.
 
Pretty sure you can use the Display Widget software from ASUS to control OSD functions within windows
 
Is there a real difference between MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD and Asus PG32UQ besides the fact that I can remember the Asus model number? These look like the same panel and monitor basically.

I think the Asus PG32UQ can do black frame insertion at the same time as variable refresh rate, and the MSI can't. That being said, I've heard that ELMB Sync (as Asus calls this technology) can be hit or miss depending on the display.

I also have a PG32UQ on order. I think that MSI is the same panel though. And I haven't heard anything about the HDMI port being bandwidth limited like the FI32U. But personally I'm gonna stick with waiting for the PG32UQ.

I love the aspect of the KVM switch. Why couldn't the ASUS just of added one? Also, why is everyone so sure that ASUS will be fine when their products have been dicy.

Yeah I mean best of luck to all who instantly pre ordered the Asus but I'd rather wait until all contenders enter the arena and get properly reviewed before I drop a grand for a new display. The Viewsonic still hasn't made an appearance either.
