No, AMD is a much larger company.
Their 2006 turnover was $5.649 Billion ($1.4 Billion per quarter) and that wasn't even enough to make a profit ($166 Million net loss).

Nvidia's 2006 turnover was $3.07 Billion ($750 Million per quarter) which gave them a net profit of $448 Million.

nVidia has been one of the best executing companies in the computer hardware business for all of this decade. They simply are better than AMD right now. I'm sure AMD will come back, but the problem with AMD is consistency. Just when they were really kicking ass, Intel bitch smacked them with the Core architecture, and AMD is just finally getting competitive again.

Congrats nVidia, each of us in this forum no doubt contributed at least .0000001% of that profit!

So if they do 1.4B per quarter and nVidia is reporting 1.12B for their 3Q, then nVidia alone is skimming AMD/ATi's income it seems.
 
yeah but did you guys hear the conference call? No guidance, no direction... I'd like to hear a little more on their plans.
 
Where the hell do you get a tie like that, thats more nvidia green than even their logos are.

Its not as clear cut as this,Here are market caps:

NVidia: ~$18.57B
AMD: ~$6.94B


There is one final money pit for AMD however that can't be buoyed up by any good news at the moment, and that's debt. AMD has never been in a position or a desire to be completely debt-free, but right now they're swimming in it. AMD needed to borrow money in the first place to be able to buy ATI, but this has been further compounded by their losses. AMD spent nearly $100 million just on interest charges in Q3, and this has been growing steadily since they started posting their latest series of losses.

To give you an idea of what kind of debt AMD is in, we have the assets & liability numbers from both Q3 2006 and Q3 2007. In Q3 2006, AMD held nearly $8.4 billion in total assets and held $689 million in actual debt among $3.4 billion in total liabilities. In Q3 2007 they held nearly $13 billion in total assets (mostly from the ATI acquisition) but held $8.8 billion in total liabilities, $5.3 billion of which is debt. The fact of the matter is that between absorbing ATI's debt and adding to their own, AMD has racked up nearly $5 billion in debt in the last year. It goes without saying that this is very, very bad.
