Tech FAIL Story of the Day

A dolphin wearing a high tech tracking device, released after eight months of rehabilitation, was euthanized after being immediately attacked by two sharks upon release from captivity. Lot of good that radio transmitter did. I am probably going to hell for laughing about this but you have to admit it is kinda funny.

Jeni Hatter, spokeswoman for the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, said the dolphin was attacked twice by at least two different sharks. Hatter said experts who were nearby were monitoring the dolphin with a VHF radio transmitter at the time of the attack.

So they spent all that money rehabing the dolphin, only to be attacked by sharks not even a day later, then more money was spent saving the dolphin from the sharks, only to have even more money to kill it? Ummm why did we do all that when Mother Nature was clearly offering to do it for free?

Is called humanitarianism or misuse of resources to make us feel good about ourselves with no involvement of an ability called common sense.
That's the reason why I hate PETA.
Much better to invest this money to help actual people help themselves than to treat animals like they were people.
Make an account to what if all this money was invested in space exploration instead.

The transmitter broadcast the dolphin's final words, reported to be, "Heh heh, nice skarks......pretty sharks.....AAAARRRRGH!"

Should of turned him into cum afterwards.

At least the death would have meant something. I mean, attacked by sharks who got nothing out of it? Now that's cruel.

And by cum I meant chum, not jizzm.

I'm not one to lament the lack of an edit button...but yeah. That was a doozy :).

Was the dolphin on government health care? Maybe he had the "throw you to the sharks" policy? Or someone need another episode of "when animals attack" made.

Was that the same sharks that we're found near Michael Jackson? (too soon?)

Maybe the transmitter made the sharks home in on him. Haha.

thats actually a vary good possibility because of the added electromagnetic field to the dolphin allows the sharks to better sense it and could give off different senses to the sharks thinking its injured..

but that just shows you dont screw with mother nature.. if the dolphins ment to die.. let it die.. why people think they can manipulate the way nature works is beyond me because 9 times out of 10 it always fails..

Sounds like the idiots herein Ontario trying to restock Atlantic salmon, they dump them into the areas they choose and the cormorants eat them all before they get somewhere safe... wouldn't wana try it at night or kill off a few million (over populated) fish birds first lol

This has nothing to do with PETA.

There are plenty of legitimate reasons to hate PETA. This isn't one of them.

Wow.. they let the dolphin get attacked by multiple sharks.. not once, but ATLEAST twice. haha.. they did a great job trying to ensure it would survive the deep blue sea.

Maybe the sharks couldn't pay for there cable and wanted his hookup. Or it was all to impress a female shark. Because maybe the transmitter make him look like a nerd. Maybe they dropped him in a bad part off the ocean. (shark turf) (what color was the transmitter, it could of been gang related) Or they we're using windows and the sharks are apple fans.

The bad news: Flipper is critically injured and we will have to be put down.

The good news: The Shark-attracting radio experiment that funded the rehabilitation was a HUGE success!

What? Your post is absurd. This has nothing to do with PETA, and who are you to belittle the importance of marine biology? They help the dolphin live, and then they get to study it. It's win/win for both sides, not "dolphin charity."

I actually felt sorry for the dolphin. I also thought the radio transmitter might have attracted the sharks.

I heard sharks can detect small electrical impulses. Those transmitters might have led the sharks to attack the dolphin,

Not that im defending PETA....I consider people who support PETA waste of oxygen.

But PETA actually kills over 90% of the animals they take in...just throwin that out there hahahahaha. So the dolphin would have most likely been toast. Tuna sandwiches anyone?

whats even more entertaining is the fact that Sharks are ATTRACTED to RF frequency in the water at certain frequencies! DOH! Guess they missed that part in Marine Biology.

That was my thought as well. I am actually sorry for the dolphin, less sorry for the scientists.
