Only if you have a Plextor, OR if you never want to RMA it under the warrenty period if you try the Plextor Firmware on a non Plextor BADGED drive.

Tiny has a good point. I should have mentioned the warranty aspect when posting the plextor firmware link. Not everyone would be willing to risk a bad flash with firmware from a different company :(

I'd recommend that most people wait for TDK's firmware updates, i'm sure TDK would release them shortly after plextor does...
