665 chipset for $250? I mean I doubt you're going to find a cheaper alternative. As to updates and stuff like that? Probably going to be left on your own, IMO.
Also, what kind of carrier compatibility are you looking at (not sure of your location)? Global phones tend to be slightly different bands than the US, so you end up missing out on some LTE bands. Usually, they work, but not as well as if you had a US phone variant.

Yeah- I picked up a 6t for about $250 (cert refurb) and it's pretty amazing.
