Symantec announced this week that several of its top of the line products will be available as public betas. If you are interested in either Norton Security 2015 or Norton Security with Backup 2015 betas, slide on over to the download site for a test run.

Both Norton Security 2015 Beta and Norton Security with Backup 2015 Beta are available as a trial downloads now for PCs running Windows XP or later.

I'm sure everyone at [H] is excited for new Norton products.

Great, a new version of the adware I constantly have to clean off computers!

People who need AV, don't, because even if they have it, they WILL find a way to still get infected. Even had a lady tell me she turned off the AV so she could get the free eggs for the FB game it kept blocking....

Yet I have made it a point not to put a AV or any protection on my laptop, which is what I use for most for watching my uhhh...Linux distros....and normal surfing and it's been 3 years, not a single infection. While the desktop has has an AV on it (also never infected) but all it really does is play games or edit videos.

Every computer (ok, maybe 90%) I have ever removed infections off of, has had an AV on it, which just shows me even more, that stupid people will get infections....No matter what.

That's like saying, "I have gone three years without an accident so I don't need insurance on my car."

I have used quite a few AV products over the years and while Norton left a bad taste in my mouth from years past, their current Internet Security has served me well. I don't even notice it running performance wise, never turn it off for gaming, and it doesn't cause any problems. I've had it block a couple viruses/malware over the past few years which tells me it's worth the $80 a year for my three computers.

It's difficult to get people to pay for AV, these days, so I think Symantec should give the basic product free and charge for advanced features/application firewall. I was part of a couple Norton 360 betas and they ran quite well, so the days of "slow, shitty, Norton AV products" are only perpetuated by our long memories.

Personally, I run Symantec Endpoint Protection, unmanaged. It has no fluff, has an application firewall and doesn't annoy me.

Have been using Norton Internet Security since 2010, and at that time I was skeptical of the software because of its past. It was slow, clunky and unreliable when I remembered using it last (Sometime after the millennium). For a while (couple years) I didn't use AV but when I started getting blasted with malware, I decided I needed a good firewall and went to Kaspersky IS. That worked well until my sister-in-law got Norton IS for free from college. After I saw how fast and malware free their computers were, visiting many sketchy websites, Norton didn't seem that bad. Moved to it in 2010 and have never thought anything of it. It was faster than Kaspersky and IMHO much improved since I last used it. Btw, for those who think AV is expensive, you must not shop around enough. I'm always able to find Norton Internet Security for under 20 bucks for 3 PC's/Yr. Seems more than worth it IMHO.

Also known as the "Slow your machine down even more without fixing the problem edition".

I use the free version of avast and malwarebytes for the occasional scan. Also use a VPN and different DNS in addition to not being an idiot and pressing on obviously fake links. I think the most interesting aspect of most AV's is the sandbox ability of some of them, but a lot of them don't have it.

I want to learn how you do this. What would be considered normal surfing?

Finally, a new Nortan. It's by far, the best AV software out there. It's only $100, people who say that's to much and free stuff is fine are fully retarded. Some popups? Come on. They are all useful. Uses to much RAM? You guys are just to cheap to upgrade the stuff. It has the ABSOLUTE best protection out there, I've tried a lot (PCTools Spyware Doctor, Net Protector, and Super Duper Kids AV), and Nortan beat them all.

Tried it out. about 20-50MB residence between two NS.exe processes? Not bad for a Norton product IMO. I might keep it and try it out more.

I see you are still using Norton 2007? Or, 2007 is calling you, they want their Norton back.

Not even close to driving a car. The point is that people who understand security are far better off than those who do not but have programs up tho their ears to protect them. I can also say in the past few years have only had a few warnings from the AV I have used and 90% of those were false for games/programs that I knew were safe.

Anything you could ever do online, I am just smart about it, its pretty easy to spot iffy things and sites today, and unless you are DLing and installing pirated software from unknow places, I really don't see how people get infections today, other than just not looking at what they are doing, or going to sites they know are risks anyway. I mean if you want the porn that bad, just pay for it, or if you want that program/game pay for it.

Symantec Endpoint protection is like installing a screen door on a submarine...

I suppose there hasn't been any water around here for the last seven years or so, then...
Only found one AV compare database with it on there, and it shows it as fine.

One of those classic moments you wonder if the poster is a masterful troll, or genuinely stupid.
