Was a good game, enjoyed it especially co-op with a buddy of mine.
Anyone know if they ever got the sequel to be playable yet or is that never gonna happen?

The last that I read ( last year ) was that it was playable.

The developer has to make new games, to pay to fix Sword of the Stars 2. The forum probably has the latest news:

It's a new trend in gaming software development - making new games, to pay to fix the old ones. I guess it was inevitable after they took beta testing / QA testing out of the development cycle ( during the Rainbow 6 era ).

I think that "Ground Pounders" was the game that Kerberos were working on:

Paradox separated from Kerberos and/or vice versa, from what I understand.

That looks somewhat like that old hex base series that Blue Isles used to make, I can't remember the name

The first SOTS was Epic, almost a MOO sequel I would say. They really messed up SOTS2 though.. just plain wrong. Talk about butchering a perfectly good concept that people loved.

I looked around and the sequel is playable now after an expansion but most people don't seem to like it anywhere near as much as the first one.

I'm in red ( Tarkas race ). Green are some wimpy Humans ( I fought for the core and node locked the Humans early ). The blue are the extremely aggressive Hivers and have recently created more colonies than me ( two stars NNW - garbage sized stars though ). They are starting to spread like the plague.

There is an invasion armada of 22 Hiver ships in 2 turns. If the Hivers take my colony and set up a teleportation gate, they can warp all ships in the galaxy between existing gates. It will be like the invasion of Normandy. I think that their entire fleet has another 20 destroyers on their Homeworld.

The bad news is that the Hiver's best ships have basic Stormers. The good news is that I replaced all of my defense platforms with long range Sniper Cannon ( less damage but longer range ). I'm hoping that I can outrange them, with my new platforms and new ships. The bad news is that this is my first time field testing the Sniper cannon, so I don't know how it will hold up in battle.

Hivers are usually very slow on the offensive. Their ships have a lot of HP but their research probabilities are fairly limited, just send one of your advance fleets and wipe the floor with them,

I sent 20 ships and they all died. I'm really disliking the tactical combat. It's not fluid like... Total War or Homeworld.
