Hey guys,
So I got a 6200 for my computer because I wanted DVI for my 2001FP, improved DVD playback, and I started playing Starcraft again

So yeah, I wanted a silent video card because I download a lot, and sometimes I leave it on when I sleep, so I want something that is quiet so I could sleep. So that's why I got this card.

Anyway, on receiving it, it makes my computer pretty damn hot as my computer has been on for some time and its at 89C right now. I've seen it go to 91 or 92C when I'm playing Starcraft and stuff. Basically as you can see, my computer is a Dell Dimension 4700, so it doesn't really have room for fans. I did some searching around and found this:

I'm gonna give that a try and also those guys talked about puttin in a 2nd case fan...which was this fan:

and i'm not sure if I would want it if it made my computer loud.

Ok, I kind of went off topic, but the reason I started this thread was I wanted to cool down my 6200, so if that reverse fan thing works, maybe I'm ok. I got the idea from reading:

http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/04...s_the_formula_for_graphics_cooling/index.html

But I was confused if that could possibly be a silent heatsink and if it needed any fans? to work or if it could possibly work in my computer. you can see from these pics I found online that my computer is pretty small and compact:

So yeah, basically I don't want to make my computer louder, but I want to make it cooler! That sounds likes a hard thing to do, but I know its possible. I was also wondering if I could add some Artic Silver to my CPU and maybe my stock 6200 heatsink and maybe that would help? Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,
Toby

actually, I switched the fan thing and my temperatures are so low now, its amazing. I suppose the airflow changed from back to front? Either way, my hard drive is now 31C and my Video card is 62C. Wow!

there you go, very nice. I can personally attest that the 6200's run damn hot, mostly because they're passively-cooled "budget" cards that are actually quite powerful. I have an MSI 6200TC (64mb version) as a backup card and it'll hit about 90C under load.
