Suggest a Firmware replacment for my WRT54GS?

Hey guys, I've recently been having some trouble with bit torrent downloads, and someone suggested that the connections were basically overloading my "little home use" router. I'm using the default Linksys firmware, and I hear that other firmwares are able to shape traffic much better. Can you suggest one for me and provide some tips for installing it? I hear that DD-WRT is the best at the moment? Thanks
