Steve Jobs Dead

I'm a fan of capitalism. What this guy and other CEO's are doing is NOT capitalism. It's greed and people like Obama call it capitalism to try to brainwash people.

There can be capitalism without greed. I know plenty of small businesses around town that compete but still help each other when they need it.

It falls to the consumer to decide for his/herself and to question the sales pitch! Arguably, powerful oratory by the people that "brainwash" people is to be celebrated for their mastery... to not address that is not to give due credit to the individual's capabilities.

I wonder... gasp. Could it be that people actually think that corporations ought to better the community? That's socialist! (sarcasm tag)

I'm not trying to make anyone do anything. I offered up my opinion on the subject, which I'm allowed to do, and a couple of others saw fit to challenge me on it, instead of respecting my opinion. The problem lies with them, not me.

And it's not just us two. There are more than two of us that obviously didn't like the guy. Probably because they know teh garbage that the man and the company has pulled. Not just some blind fanboys.

I'm not an Apple fanboy but I'm not about to go and bash the man on the day he died either. I know he pulled some shit but so have 1000s of others, that doesn't make it alright but it's not like he's some straight out of hell dictator either.

I guess I'm somewhere between you and German Muscle and the Apple fanboys. I think he did some good with Apple and Pixar but also a lot of morally questionable decisions. I don't think he should be bashed on his deathbed but neither should he be praised as someone who did a lot of good.

And you're as wrong as you were the first time, and you refuse to answer the question.

Would you save millions if it meant killing one?

That's the thing with bleeding hearts like you, you'll never actually apply logic to anything you think of. Just feelings.

I'm not sure what the disconnect between you two is...

You're both right

One life is no more valuable than a single other life

and yes, id glady kill one person to save millions

Why do you keep bringing the other CEO's up? Yeah, I thin they should be hung. What of it?

And me, a liberal? You don't know me at all. I have heart problems. I have a metal spine from surgeries because of scoliosis. I have tons of problems.

I am thankful for what I have, but that does NOT MAKE ME BLIND TO OTHER STUFF. That's called being a grown up.

Damn, I'm sorry you have so many problems, I really am.

The reason I keep bringing up the Enron CEOs is because they destroyed thousands of lives, jobs, and futures.
Mainly, it was to put things into perspective.

Comparing Steve Jobs, who has created jobs, tech, and made the world a better place with the technology, he isn't so bad.

As for you being thankful for what you have, I'm sure you are.
But the fact that you keep whining to us about your problems as well as acting like a victim who should deserve so much, makes me think otherwise.

Maybe I'm wrong, and I hope I am.

I want to say one thing to you: just because you're a fully grown adult, doesn't make you a man. ;)

Jobs was cutthroat, no doubt about it... but he got shit done. Working for Atari, he forced Steve Wozniak to work for four days straight without sleep to build the game Breakout. It was an engineering miracle, even the technicians at Atari couldn't figure out how The Woz managed to build it, so they had to redesign it but it gave them ideas. Sure Jobs took the bonus cash and gave The Woz almost nothing but the point is without Jobs pushing and stimulating and encouraging we would've never have had Breakout. You don't get to be rich and powerful and change the world and the way people think and operate by being a nice guy. RIP, Chairman Jobs.

I can totally agree with you on this.

The only reason I even commented is because I can't believe how many people are lauding him like he was some perfect God.

I heard hes going to be buried in a big coffin shaped like an iPod.

One drawback of that model..
If one pallbearer grabs the handle too tight they all loose their grip.
And it drops....yes the Pall's drop

there is another show at 6, try the veal and tip your waitress

As for your argument about killing one to save millions Boomstick. (cursed lack of an edit button)

I can't say for sure I would be able to do that when it came down to it but I probably could if I was truly sure it would, in fact save millions, but would I arbitrarily take one persons life to save another? Not really, and I don't think that argument makes sense in this context because it's not a kill one and save a million thing at all.

Would you create millions of jobs throughout the world if it meant making a few morally questionable decisions?

It's just disgusting how many assholes there are in this thread.

I find amazing the amount of hatred some of these people have for a man, because they didn't like his products or business decisions.

Grow up.

I don't think I deserve anything I haven't worked towards.

And you're right, I know what makes me a man. The ability to make decisions based on logic and fact, the ability to help others, et cetera...

Can't stand the crap that company peddles. But there are plenty of companies that peddle overpriced rubbish. It's the irritating cultists and supremists that make the company that much worse, then all the lies they are told to make them think that way... I feel a kind of pity and kind of sad when speaking to some of them who are so dillusional they lose sense of reason. They suffer with products that do all the things the "other" things do while lacking the things they were promised, while still retaining this feeling that they will still be right if they say enough times they are.

It doesn't sit morally right with me that they are allowed to get away with causing things like this. Behind all this immoral nonsense was that guy, who didn't add anything useful to the world yet was so "innovative". Really, what did they "innovate" that wasn't stolen? Firewire

@Jalidi: the beauty from that is the fact that Jobs did not break any rule doing it. He's perfectly entitled to get the majority of the cut. That's something to learn from! Don't dwell on the shiny iPad2s... but think of all the important business lessons from the great man ;(

Darkhunter139: Yes, but he made more than a "few"

Shizzdizzle: how about the fact that he bought his way to the top of a donor list...how's that ?

Name a couple of them then.... I have a hard time believing he could have hurt more people then he helped.

Jobs innovated the way how you managed to seize the relevant patents and use them to countersue any patent troll, and he also revolutionized the process of roll-out to the point where any leak in the process can be effectively pursued using legal and extrajudicial means. He added alot to the corporate world, which are immensely useful in the developmental cycle!

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Yes I would also gladly kill one to save millions.

Boomstick, un-wad your panties and stop throwing accusations around.

I give this a resounding meh. He was good at marketing and screwing people over; as they say Karma’s a bitch.

Its an ugly thread for sure-and one of the worst I have read on this site. Love the guy or hate him-who cares? Its macabre to dance all over the guy's grave. If you haven't anything nice to say then give it a rest.

Disrespect is not a good character trait regardless of what you think of the man. At least wait for his body to cool some more before you fling the hate. But of course not-this is the Internets where people will type stuff they would never say to others face to face.

I wouldnt call it innovation exactly. Its like saying the lighter/matches werent exciting because the cavement already made fire.

Contribution is more like he. He contributed alot. I'd say he contributed to phones and tablets about as much as the guy who invented the lighter did for fire...

If u can follow that train of thought..... its getting late and my iq has dropped a little over the last half hour tracking this thread :D

And you're right, I know what makes me a man. The ability to make decisions based on logic and fact, the ability to help others, et cetera...

+1

I think that's the first thing we agree with! :D

Also, I know that your "people treating him like a perfect god" comment isn't necessarily directed at me, but I want to make things clear:

I don't consider him to be perfect or a god.
He was a man who accomplished a lot and did a lot of good in his life.
However, he did a lot of bad as well.

These things make us human beings, as was he.
That's it, no more, no less.

People calling him greedy and evil and etc, may not be totally wrong, but they may not be totally right either.
That's the reason I kept bringing up Enron, to show CEOs who truly are evil and greedy and who have purposely destroyed other people's lives.

The question is not whether or not if you will kill one to save a million; would you kill a million to save one is the question.

And you're as wrong as you were the first time, and you refuse to answer the question.

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one

And then Kirk turned it around

The needs of the one outweigh the needs of the many.

One of my favorite Star Trek scenes ever:

Spock: You find it easier to understand the death of one than the death of a million. You speak about the objective hardness of the Vulcan heart, yet how little room there seems to be in yours.

McCoy: Suffer the death of thy neighbor, eh, Spock? Now you wouldn't wish that on us, would you?

Spock: It might have rendered your history a bit less bloody.

Darkhunter139:
Shizzdizzle: how about the fact that he bought his way to the top of a donor list...how's that ?

Buying your way to the top of a donor list is a federal offense. As far as I know, he was never charged with anything. What do you know that the rest of the world doesn't know?

The world's most successful purveyor of shiny trash is dead. This news made my day.

I wonder if the RDF works like vampires. If the head vampire is killed, does everyone return to normal?

It was his money in the first place.
Why would I tell him to spend it or donate it?

Freedom = doing what you want with what is yours.

If you were rich, I would never force you to donate your money or spend it how I want you to spend it, it's yours, and you have every right to do with it what you want.

That makes him greedy? wtf kind of logic is that?

That is by definition GREED
"excessive desire to acquire or possess more (especially more material wealth) than one needs or deserves"

I'm sorry but when you have enough money to change the fucking world, to better f'ing society as a whole its your f'ing duty to change it. I doubt this fuck ever even paid any taxes.

Having a nerd moment of silence tonight. Brought down all my personal servers with the exception of the Mac xServer.

This thread should be locked. So much disrespect for the man. You guys who disrespect the dead act like you're model citizens and angels when you're far from it. Judge not lest ye judge thyself.

Sleep well Mr. Jobs.

RIP he brought nothing to the world we couldn't live with out and gave back nothing to society even being obscenely loaded... Top that off with buying his way to the top of the donor list and in the end you have a big piece of crap that made popular phones.

I would be mute upset if Paris Hilton died...

Oh please... He was just a person and a shithead at that...

Of course the leader if the [H] apple faithful would have to chime in...

Its a forum. It happens. I have no need to disrespect/hate Steve Jobs but some of the comments are hilarious and they DID make my day.
