Stephen Hawking: Aliens Could 'Conquer And Colonize' Our Planet

Well, it's actually a little premature to think that they will be warlike at all. It's not a guerantee, although the chance they would have encountered other warlike species would be higher and therefor they may have learned some new tricks, or just learned to leave the unsociabale bastard types alone. Whatever. I'm just saying, being technologically advanced doesn't necessatate that they be militarily advanced as well. Likely may be, gueranteed, nope.

Could be mostly a exploratory peaceful anti-weapon species, which at this point in guessing is just as likely as halo rings. We like to project our patterns and developments and flaws onto a theoretical species in space, but then how can we not? We are the only species we know of that is at our level so we have no other base of comparison.

Do we actually need someone to tell us this? Of course, aliens could turn the Earth into a harvest zone, among about a zillion other possibilities... ;p

Well, maybe we'll get lucky and the aliens will be beautiful females whom are seeking mouth breathing, basement dwelling [H] members to mate with.

The issue that some are missing is that most likely there is more than one alien species traveling around. For every race that are peaceful travelers there is just as much of a chance for there to be another species that is looking for a slave labor force or worse.

Because aliens that were advanced enough to travel the stars would not have any smart approach to solving workforce issues they would have to travel light years to fix it by enslaving us ?

If they're using FTL and we're using fossil fuels, maybe they would simply see us the same way we see cows. Use us as livestock or beasts of burden.

Because that is just what every alien race really wants , solve faster then light then enslave human beings totally one sided development while keeping the Neanderthal part of the brain intact

Makes little sense does it ?

Yes, I'd imagine an alien race capable of interstellar space travel would be able to defeat us in an open conflict.

This.

Though, I think they'd view us the way we view mice. As dumb, parasitic creatures who either need to be exterminated, or used for lab tests.

The only good news is that humans are incredibly evil warlike creatures, so for the small chance that the aliens were peaceful, looking to make contact, we'd probably kill them off. I figure, any intelligent beings would probably have a scouting party before the warships come anyway.

Ummm those tasty humans, really good and well worth the time and effort to fly 65,536 light years (our light years not those quickie human light years).

If aliens were advanced enough to travel the cosmos, they would already have the advanced technology to generate/gather resources. No need to plunder an inefficient planet of the apes. Unless it's for sport, like Predators.

If FTL travel isn't super easy to accomplish, then it is highly unlikely aliens will ever get here in the first place. And if it is super easy, then we have already found that the galaxy is full of planets and just about any resource you could want, so there would be no point in conquering some backwater planet like Earth.

You should read the short story "The road not taken".

Humans could be food to them. We have grown a huge biomass and would make a great source of protein.

There are 2 plausible reasons for aliens to be militaristic if they found earth... 1) prevent a potential enemy from advancing or 2) there is some resource on the planet worthy of war...

Good thing their travel is limited to 4 byte light years. We're 8 bytes away!
