I bought one last time they were 15$. Do everything you can to connect this via Ethernet. WiFi can be laggy.

Depends on the router. Depends on the distance to the router. Depends on the stuff your walls are made of. Depends on other traffic on the network. Depends on what you're playing.

Two years ago, I would've agreed with the Ethernet only advice. (and I was using Steam IHS before the Link was released) My first Link was Ethernet; but the second and third are wifi- and it works fine.

Received mine on Monday the 18th. A gift for my son, this will be hooked up directly with an Ethernet cable to minimize potential lag.

Mine's pretty far away from my router (which is a used Archer C7, nothing state of the art). The router is all the way across the house from the Steam Link, which is in my bedroom. Works without any hiccups, really. And that's while the Steam Link is bluetooth connected to my bedroom speakers (Logitech BT adapter connected to a Topping TP20, connected to some DCM speakers) and my PS3 controller at the same time. Sometimes my BT keyboard on top of it.

I do have some complaints of course. Sometimes the BT is buggy (but when isn't it buggy? On any device? Lol). The major thing is that it automatically turns on the TV. Some might consider this nice, but this means if you brush that wireless mouse while it's not turned off, and you're trying to go to sleep... there it's getting turned on, and you're getting woken up. Other than that, though, it's really great. I can do on it everything that I can do on my PC, and I can even go through all 4 of my monitors. For a tiny box that sold for 15$, it's a hella nice.

If your network has more congestion, you should try more expensive routers. Like some of the multicore ones with multiple 5Ghz bands. They do better at separating slow and fast devices.

This thing is really a no-brainer at $15. Can't endorse it enough.
