Got you now, sucka. These days Steam shows you more of what you already have/seen. I know cause I let my wife use it for her crappy indie games and now I see all kinds of crap next to Dooms and Quakes hahaha

Last I checked anime characters didn't constitute as people.

I look at it this way: What happens if you take this away? Those into this shit will look elsewhere for satisfaction. Do we really want that? For them to go down that rabbit hole? And we do it for no other reason than to appease our own sensibilities.

I'm not saying it should be promoted on the store page at all, but I'd be more content with those interested in this stuff getting their fix trough virtual anime characters on steam, if you know what I mean.

Oh geez, how can you prove a negative? I think it helps, yes. Not in all cases, but if there are just a few wouldn't you say it is worth it?

It seems weird to me, that killing people, gets the seal of approval, but this is where we draw the line.

Look, I'm not claiming this is a public service, far from it, but it definitely does no harm to anyone.

It wasn’t rhetorical. I’m genuinely curious. If it helps prevent things in any capacity, that can be seen as a positive. I’m not sure how something like that can be tested though.

There is no way to measure it, since nobody will admit to it publicly, that this is what prevented them from stalking kids or worse.

First off, have the courage to reply directly to the post you're referring to so I can get notification about it and perhaps respond in a timely manner.
Second no-one was actively defending "simulation of fucking of any kind, let alone underages" I was merely pondering whether having this keeps them from actual crimes.
third, way to miss the finer points of the argument.

You are suggesting that sexualizing a character under 18 is a worse crime than actual murder, and blowing people to bits! So get off your high and mighty horse, because from where I'm standing it looks like a dead pony.

Historically we're doing better than ever when it comes to pre-teen pregnancies. Don't forget that hundreds of years ago that was the norm. Places like Africa are still getting 12 year old girls pregnant because that's part of their culture. Also sex isn't happening more frequently cause America and Europe have a declining population. The word Incel was invented for this thing.

Seriously. What they fuck is wrong with people now days? Sexualizing minors with pixels in a video game still normalizes sexualizing minors in the overall culture. It's fucked up, depraved to the max, and absolutely unbelievable that people defend it.

They have for a while, until the last year or so, you had to "fix" the games yourself if you wanted all the naughty bits. Is there really a moral difference between FarCry, The Witcher Series, Battlefield, or the like, and VR Kanojo, or Honey Select, or the like?

I don't think there is a good argument for murder simulators being of higher moral character than sex simulators.

While I don't think psychology works like some seem to think, and there is likely a legitimate study/rabbit hole around this issue.

That being said, I wish steam would ban all these fking games, underage looking or not, they are creepy as fk (along with those that jack it to em) and don't belong on a general purpose game store 'shelf'.

Seems the laws and how they're enforced are different in Japan. Usually for hentai and hentai games, the girls are actually around 16 and 17 years old, but the age gets bumped up to at least 18 when it gets westernized.

That is a huge stretch buddy, it stops the same way it stops in normal life. You want sex toys and games, you don't find them at the toy store you find them in an adult store.

I'm sure the pregnant pre-teens are outliers. But it still happens. And this isn't part of our culture (like the Africa example). The declining birth rates are only among certain demographics though. But teens making babies and teens engaging in sex are two different topics.

Let me offer a true (and sad) story. My wife had a teen patient that had developed a yeast infection. The patient had to be instructed on proper wiping techniques (front to back). Patient stated that she was wiping the correct way. My wife then had to ask if the patient engaged in anal sex (answer was a yes). She then instructed the teen that she couldn't engage in anal-to-vaginal sex. The teen didn't understand - "you can do it vaginally???" I shit you not, that was the response my wife got. My wife was convinced that she wasn't being trolled, simply because she sees a lot of stupid, young girls who are doing a lot of stupid and dangerous things. The number of teen STD stories I hear...

Of course, she says the worst place for STD's are in the retirement homes. The people there have nothing to do but fuck.

Likewise, there isn't any evidence I know of that suggests exposure to art sexualizing children leads to increased instances of pedophilia.

If the creator says the characters are over 18 then they are. Everybody else's opinions don't count. I could show you many pornstars and nude models who upon first glance you would think were underage. Should they be denied a revenue stream because someone thinks they look underage? I think it was the UK that outlawed real women with A-cup breasts from performing in pornography within the country because they "look like children."

It has always bothered me. I personally think art that portrays characters who are clearly children by their visible physical attributes is disgusting, but I don't think it should be banned or illegal.
