Following the platform’s decision to release Negligee: Love Stories, an anime story adventure that happens to include uncensored sex and nudity, the National Center on Sexual Exploitation has released a statement blaming Steam for “contributing to the cultural objectification of women.” According to the organization’s director, the game’s inclusion of pressured sexual relationships and abusive marriages “normalizes the idea that men have the right to control and abuse women.”

“Steam’s lack of effective content filtering results in easy access to extremely graphic content by 35 million minors who regularly use Steam. These types of games also train undeveloped minds to normalize sexual objectification and use of women. We are calling on Steam to reconsider the types of content they allow on their platform to protect users from degrading and harmful content,” concluded Hawkins.

All up in arms perpetuating the abusive relationships eh? Men holding the women down. But what about that Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey both from women authors and full of possessive abusive control. Got to love the double standard.

OK, sure, it is definitely objectification, but it is also a game and I believe MOST people can distinguish between a game and reality. The same for movies and books to some degree.

I'd rather see young adults getting their kicks from a game than the alternative...

If you want your children to treat people right, show them how it is done.

Most can tell the difference, but there are those that can not(usually are very loud about it too), other wise this stuff would stop showing up and people would stop blaming media/games on societies problems.

whenever these orgs come out and say something as dumb and sensationalist as this, it completely fogs out the other things they do right

that is if this is a proper org that is serious about Sexual Exploitation ( like promoting sex worker and performer rights and safety ). Can't be bothered to research this one

If Steam blocks the games, they get called out for censoring. If Steam allows them, they get called out for something else. Pretty sure Valve is just shaking their heads at this point.

well , these voices that criticizes Valve or any other company that does not 'promote strong woman whom looks as unfeminine as possible' is a tiny minority of actual customers.

Whatever straightforward media that is left uncorporatized should not give undeserved attention to these hate-mongers, which is exactly the sort of exposure they desire

Can someone link them up with the myriad of Instagram "stars" and their ass and tit shots? I mean, you want to get mad, get mad across all platforms!

this new wave of Feminism is shaming these photo subjects already. Reason course is jealousy and self-hatred.

and yet there are those topless protestors......these man-and-woman-haters should go fight each other instead of trying to make popular media kowtow to their idealogy

Please kindly fuck off NCSE, women can have their adult games if there is a market for it, which I'm sure there is, so back in the corner!
Tentacles or GTFO!

Barney should be the only digital media available for everyone. NOTHING ELSE!
Naw, I think they want something a little bit stronger(thank god my parents were Roman Catholics and didn't force feed their children sky daddy stuff!)

OK everybody, let's come together, join hands, and sing some creep AF songs!
Que Psalty the Songbook........

To answer your curiosity: The NCSE's original name was "Morality in Media". They are heavily anti-porn and have extremely "religious" beliefs when it comes to sex and sexuality. They essentially hide their bullshit under "think of the children" arguments. The head of the group used to work for the government, going after people that produced "obscene content" in the late 80s and early 90s.

Yeah, the sad thing is that so much sexual harassment and assault has gone on for so long, and continues. At least the #metoo movement brought some light on this and some perpetrators where hold to account.

The pejorative SJWs is so often thrown out the moment someone tries to lessen the misogyny that exists, whatever they do.

the metoo movement only ever screws over people in the public eye, there aren't many convictions from twitter accusations.

but that's all they really want, just to have you shamed in public. sad.

But it's...anime. That's Japan blatantly objectifying Western culture.

Many men (there are women too) have been forced to leave their positions when it became clear that they have a pattern of sexual harassment spanning decades. The companies in some cases even knew about it earlier. I would think that many victims would want some kind of justice.

so shame. why not arrest some of them?

Roll eyes and quote all you want, video games are protected under the first amendment and it's just people whining over what is being said/portrayed in the game. Media wouldn't matter if you raised people the right way in the first place.

Shaming works, though, when several women tells about sexual harassment done by the same person. If the man is a f*cking pig he deserves what he gets.

As for arresting and convicting, there, of course, needs to be proof. There are also statues of limitations concerns as some of the alleged incidents happened years ago.

so they wait 20 years until their abuser is famous then get on twitter accuse them with no proof other than their word get their 15 minutes and ruin someone else's life?

that's metoo in a nutshell.

makes you wonder why they don't accuse them when it happens.

Because they're afraid of the retaliation? Is it really so hard for people to believe that powerful people have the ability, and money, to ruin anyone's life if they make accusations?

but just wait 20 years then say it.

the same people have the same if not more money and power.

makes complete sense.

They really don't. Weinstien could have buried his accusers if not for the support systems they had and the criminal investigation. Actors, writers, etc have far less power than producers and studio heads.
