my computer started getting so hax0rd that it was almost unuseable, anti virus did not help so i instaled a fresh version of w1nd0wz. wen i loaded up steam and tryed to log into my account it said my passw0rd waz rong. i looked in my notepad where i keep all my passowrds and it was correct, i tried several more times and got the same prob. so i tried to retrive my lost account and the secret question thing did nothing. so i go to the steam websit and look up my problem and reaized what had happend......my account waz H1jAx0rd :eek: :eek: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it tells me to submit a case report. so i click on the ask question tab and fill out all the necessary info and send it but then it gives me an error saying that i need the "correct account id" WTF!!!!!!!!!!! so, i cant log into steam, cant contact support.......hmmmmmm....... :mad:
 
personally, id just buy another. Its not worth the crap you have to go through.
 
I had this happen to me forever ago...they have several email accounts, but only one of them is actually responded to by people.

I've forgotten which it is, unfortunately...keep looking.

That kind of mindset won't earn you any respect. I'm tempted to not try to help since your initial post was so hard to read. Knock off the 1337 spelling and grow up.

Anyways, Steam's website is going kinda haywire with DB errors and the such, but the following links should sitll work.

Ask a question here. I couldn't find a phone number, but they had this link in the support pages.

Info on how to resolve a hijacked account. Follow the insructions and provide them with proof of ownership and they should be able to help you and reset the account.

What were you doing that invited all the nasty stuff onto your computer? Actually, forget it, I don't want/need to know.

Since you have a fresh Windows install, protect it properly starting now. Download Spyware Blaster, Spybot Search and Destroy (for the preventative measures they use), and Zone Alarm, and keep using your antivirus. Make sure you installed service pack 2, and don't engage in questionable activity. Even if you engage in questionable activity, your system shouldn't be easily hackable.

Good luck, and don't forget to knock off the annoying spelling.
 
i have anti spyware now, i tried those links, they dont help, in not "inviting" crap onto my comp, *******, sorry for the leet speak

why and easily be screwed over...this is what i hate about copy protection..always screws people who try and do the right thing over.

oh *edits post*, ok, i read the info on hijacking before (said so in original post) the ask a question thingy doesn't work
 
They don't offer any phone number to contact them by, so try calling Valve directly: 425-889-9642. The number was taken from Valve's support page here. But, I don't think they can help you there. It seems that emailing Steam is your ONLY option.

While you resorting to namecalling in response to my making a semi-valid assumption would normally piss me off, I'll look past it and take it that this situation is frustrating the hell out of you. Besides, since you're speaking normally, that kind of negates the name calling. Well, actually it doesn't, and I really REALLY want to retaliate, but I'd rather help you out and ease your frustration than make things worse.

*Apologizes for making the assumption that you engaged in risky browsing/downloading behavior and "invited" viruses etc.* I could see how such an assumption could be insulting, especially if it's not valid in this situation.

Anyways, back to trying to help you. Go back to the ask a question page. Go to the "userid" prompt. Notice that it says:

Even though you have a userID, insert your email address instead since it seems to be the only way to circumvent the issue with accound ID. Follow the instructions on the "do this if your account is hijacked" page. *Hopefully* this works, and *hopefully* Steam representatives will get back to you and help you sort things through. I've never had to contact them so I don't know about how long they take to resolve a problem, but this may be a common issue.

About being hacked though, looks like you may be screwed. Maybe you can at least try to get the account banned.
 
The way you typed, I can't blame them for hacking your account. They were sick of the 1337 you used in CS.

like driver's ed ..they should have a "computer ed" class required by all that plan on using computers ..

..you could go ahead an purchase another steam account , that way somebody else would be able to have another free account to lock you out of ..

Keep a closer eye on your comp so you dont get screwed over again ..maybe next time might be a credit card number or the like ..checking account .. access to your midget porn collection ..who knows :rolleyes:

..are you currently still infected with anything? ..how do you know? ..you might want to back up your important stuff , scan it ..then scan it again ..then wipe your drive and start with a fresh install to be on the safe side.

Not trying to be a butt or anything .. but if you want to play safe(r) on the internet , you got to be more responsible .. Abstinence is safest protection when it comes to sex ..maybe the same can be applied to computers ...? :p

A good way to be abstienate would be to just not use the internet! I agree though people need to know what not to do such as not opening attachments from people you don't know and not to click on the webads that look like Windows System messages.

you have to make a support account to submit a support ticket, has nothing to do with your steam account whatsoever

HUH? You got it reversed. You didn't put my words into a 12 yr old to English translator, you put them into an English to 12 yr old AOLer translator.

What point are you trying to make??
 
If Valve doesn't help you and you paid for the purchase with a credit card then you could always do a chargeback to get your money back.
 
Try and get a firewall of some kind if you dont have one already. I'm not sure of which are ones to look for, but I'll go ahead and recommend Zone Alarm because it's the only one i've used and is free.
