Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Now it makes sense why the game still runs like shit on PC. They've been spending all their time porting it to Xbox 360 and PS4! :dead:
I've already accepted that the game probably won't ever be fixed properly. Shame considering they easily could have cut some content and focused on releasing a more polished product.

Turn off RTX framegen I think. Can’t believe this is not fixed yet.
I thought it was raytracing causing crashing? I've yet to beat Fallen Order, so I don't know from experience with Survivor yet. Shame this sequel sounds so technically incompetent :(.

For me it was ray tracing. Turned it off, essentially had zero crashes once I did that. First hour I had a number until I remembered reading about ray tracing crashing. Worked well. Stuttering was mostly fine, it was the cut scene to gameplay that was horrific.

You can find more information on all of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s accessibility features here.

This patch also incorporates some fixes for performance and stability across all platforms.

We appreciate the continued support you’ve given Star Wars Jedi: Survivor while we’ve been hard at work improving your experience. As always, let us know if you run into any additional issues.

I'll have to hop back in and try out the ray tracing again. In the launch version everything looked/ran well with everything cranked...then you'd hop on your speeder and watch your FPS drop into the teens.

Same. I played this game for a few hours after release. I enjoyed it but I didn't enjoy the inconsistent frame rates. So many games in my backlog that I decided just to wait to play this over again until they hopefully ironed out most of the issues

Denuvo also removed.

I am done with the game but still have it installed. Anyway to replay missions to see the cut scenes again? That is there the macro stutters occurred for me. I would hope they fixed that.

I'll play this again right before the 3rd and final game in the trilogy is released...I'll do a Fallen Order---> Survivor---> 3rd game binge

I haven't played this latest patch, but with the patch before if you had a chonker GPU it ran pretty well with RT. Like there was for sure a performance hit, but almost always above 60fps. The real issue was on Jedah the game would crash quite a bit with RT on, so you had to turn it off whenever you went to that planet.

Between that and the large gains the game gets from Windows 24h2 patch on AMD CPUs, it might just be smooth now.

patch #9?! lol...
i told ya not to preorder. we need to force them to release completed games....

whoops wrong thread...

I was actually thinking this was a new Outlaws patch, lol. I played though Survivor about a year ago and found it mostly okay. It had traversal stutter and frame-gen was super janky, but I was able to push through without any major issues at the time. If anything, I guess my main gripe with it is that it felt like an end-game Metroid-Vania title. It got to the point where all of your abilities combined to make it so you could jump, dash, fly, glide, etc. a zillion times in a row so you could traverse massive distances without landing. Well, that and the difficulties were pretty uneven. Normal was too easy, but there was a massive jump up if you went any higher.

I downloaded the patch and played for a bit. While the game does run a bit better this patch is not the holy grail. The typical traversal stutter is still here and as bad as ever. Since most games using UE4 have these issues I don't think it'll ever be fixed.

I enjoyed the story and world so much that the other issues were annoying, but tolerable. As you said, traversal stutter was a problem. Also difficulty was uneven. I played on Padwan because I suck at games like this and some bosses were trivial, like I'm getting the slow mo "perfect dodge" effect all the time and taking basically no damage. Others were a pain and I thought about turning it down to story mode for them.

Not a perfect game to be sure, but I enjoyed my time with it and have no issues recommending it.

As for Outlaws, haven't played that one yet. Too much else on my plate. Also it has the issue of being an Ubisoft game, and Ubisoft really makes only one game with different skins and I've just never been that big a fan of the Ubisoft game.

Ubisoft games are enjoyable as long as you don't buy all of them...taking a year or 2 break and then jumping back in again makes them a lot more fun...I think the last one I played was Far Cry 6

likely how the asset's are streamed in UE4/5

4090 - 7800x3D - 4K

I can’t remember if I had RTX disabled previously… but I gave up on this game about two weeks after release due to un-fixable stutter. Like the dude said above, disable RTX, and with this build you’re pretty much good to go at max settings.

Fun game, actually.

I can play this game and Outlaws on the weekend and maybe watch Andor. LOL.

Just got this patch and wowzersss this is a completely new game for me lol. Before this patch the game would crash every 5 to 10 mins and I gave up on it.. I don't get any stutter and it runs super smooth..

I ran around for a few minutes and even looking at the frame time graph there were only a couple of tiny spikes the whole time but it wasn't anything that I actually noticed even though I was looking for it. Someone claimed that the little white flashes you get in some areas indoors was fixed but that is complete BS as I still see it and it is still just as annoying. That happens on console too so it's not a PC issue nor is it a settings issue as it occurs even on all low with everything disabled.

How good is outlaws compared to survivor?

How good is outlaws compared to survivor?
I’m certain that many will disagree, but for me, weirdly, these two games serve a different purpose.

Survivor is more of a gamey game that happens to take place in the Star Wars universe - chiefly, your attention is on the actual gameplay.

Outlaws is more about experiencing the Star Wars universe, and just existing.

Personally, I think both are great Star Wars games.

Probably not relevant to this thread but I installed Jedi Survivor on my Xbox Series X (via Gamepass) and it runs perfectly. Good visuals and a solid 60fps.

How good is outlaws compared to survivor?
One is a linear story with open world options (survivor) and the other is open world with a faction mechanic that makes the story much harder to tell coherently. The other main difference is survivor is more combat based while outlaws is stealth based.

Sounds like without RTX you're fine. I can live with that.. Will get when its 15$ or less.

Ah, so they did not fix the camera and animation stuttering, how wonderful. I guess it's one of those games that will never be smooth, no matter the framerate.

It's so sad to see this in 2024, and that enough people still bought it so it's not a flop for the studio.(aka lesson not learned and nothing stops them from pulling the same stunt again)

The number of hell-yeah moments I’m experiencing in this game keeps growing. I love this game!

Not sure why I abandoned it 4 hours in? Performance issues, I think? They’ve really smoothed things out.

Don’t sleep on this if there’s a big sale. What a game!

How many more times do we have to hear how much you love sleeping with this game.

Dude, we are so over hearing about how much you love this POS game. Jeez, every other day. "I love this game, I love this game". Please, we know. Lol
To be fair... You are reading the thread about the game. It would be expected that people who liked it would post in that thread. If you don't like the game, I'd probably not read the thread. I don't read the New World MMO thread or the Elden Ring thread because I'm not interested in those games.

Sorry?

Maybe try reading through the thread before accusing someone of something they haven’t done.

Do you even know which game we’re discussing here? Drugs? Alcohol?

Edit: So, just to be clear… because like a lot of people, I hate being labelled a fan-boy of something when I’m not… I’ve posted about this game twice in the past 12 months, and both were pretty tame.

2nd Edit: Also… because I am a little pissed off right now… reading through the thread… most of which, btw, I’m not even a part of… but whatever… the consensus seems to be that this game is, in fact, not a piece of shit at all. How do I know this? Because I can read.
