Yeah it kinda boils down to how much will you mind dealing with a separate installation of the game plus all the caveats and restrictions regarding access to the new content being tested.
Personally speaking, I'm a tinkerer, I approach games looking for ways to break them or do things the developers never intended using the built in mechanics. So I see getting early access to builds with new mechanics often broken or not fully functional also as an advantage because once things are working as the devs intended I will know WHY and HOW something is or can be broken and I can adjust my gameplay to compensate/avoid issues or even benefit from it.
