Star Citizen - media blowout, Chris Robert's new game

10-15 people on at the same time, for long enough to run an op.

i think if you plan it out and do set times, it would likely be more akin to a raid in some other mmo, which doesn't seem too hard to manage.

But the crew count is a little misleading since it doesnt count escort ships ect.

As for that hotas setup, don't know if I like that trackball on the stick. More than happen about it on the throttle.

Saitek...the worst quality with the flashiest looks. Kind of sums up Star Citizen currently.

As for Gary's face in that intro, while it looked good, the mouth movement felt wrong and overemphasized. They've been having problems with that from the beginning.

This is October 2015. and it is all still unfinished

Nothing is going to be finished this early in development at least not from a polished visual perspective. If you want a polished game come back when it is released and not alpha.

^^What a sad lonely unnacomplished life you must live that you spend time hating on a video game of all the things to hate in the world lol.

I agree, though I don't think I've ever seen a "good" digital mouth movement in any game (though there's a lot I haven't played).

What a sad and pathetic life to interpret any criticism of your beloved project as hate. I have pointed out the flaws I saw and things that worry and angry me. As in, I love the idea of this game and I have invested heavily into it, so much so that I am actually worried about what will come of it. You don't do that about something you hate, but something you love, you blind zealot.

Maybe I should have sunk even more money, so much that I actually refuse to say a negative thing about it. It's the path you chose, is seems. Do step off your high horse, though, and let more objective people have their discussion and opinions.

Gary's speech was bad and it was supposed to pump people up. A showcase for the whole thing that just felt forced.

No amount of clever tech will compensate for crappy writing and direction. The Wing Commander movie (which I watched again recently because I wondered if it really was as bad as I remembered - it was) had perfectly photorealistic facial animation and that still sucked balls.

But then, I wouldn't play a Chris Roberts game for the story any more than I'd play The Witcher 3 for the space combat. Which is why the big name cast and fancy capture tech are such a pointless waste of time and money.

The senate scene did look like shit, though, in almost every respect. It's a good job they've only just started working on the game.

Oh god, Lorien, was that a pun? Since your a doctor and all.

Not a doctor just a surgical first assist, 10-0 and 9-0 vicryl suture is used for nerves lol. For reference 7-0 is the thickness of a hair and the higher the number the thinner it is (very delicate is an understatement)

Nah, it just wouldn't be the same without their antics lol. They are channeling their inner Vanduul.

So where are the videos of people getting to play the game at citizencon, you know, the game that was supposed to be released last year. I mean they do have at least a decent chunk of playable game available at this point right?

I haven't chimed in for a while. I've been busy with life, and hardly have had time to look at SC since 2012. Honestly, I've missed out on a WHOLE lot of DRAMA. Thank god.

I've only recently looked at this thread and this whole thing about SC not making any progress/etc. Understandable from what I've read and all of the rumors/etc.

However, I'm shocked to see the actual "HATE" that has come across the fans of this game. Not just discussion, but actual HATE for the backers of this game.

It'll be interesting how this game pans out. Sure, it might crash and burn...but I'm hopefully optimistic, and always have been. Now, back to life and to ignore this thread for another 3-6 months or so. I'll be spending a few extra dollars on backing this (maybe a mug, or something?).

They got a satellite you'll someday be able to fly to, and get out and press a button, and an FPS that looks like a senior project. Oh, and a map of places you can't go.

Yeah, I don't get the hate/flames for backers and supporters. It's one thing to call out CIG, Chris Roberts, etc and state your opinion on the future of SC, but slamming backers is totally pointless.

People love an us vs them. The only stuff I've seen here that makes me shake my head is the actual desire to want to say, "I told you so". I find that sad and small in a person.

Meh, if you can see right through them it's easy to realize that they aren't such a bother really. I mean if I told them how much I spend weekly on cured salted meats they'd probably be knocking down my door with torches and pitchforks on-hand
I think I'll have some bacon now :D

Darkstarcow - There is already a very good playable "chunk" in Arena Commander 1.2, including the Hangar module and the social module. Version 1.3 is coming soon which they talked about on the livestream, I believe Star Marine has progress reports every week and will arrive in time, and they showed the early alpha for Alpha 2.0 which include multi-crew, FPS combat and a "little of everything" multiplayer.. Even if you wanted to play something right now, there's certainly evidence of progress.

The usual crew already posted most of the important stuff but just to recap...

All in all looked like a great stream and showing continual progress. The game has swelled in size and scope since its original crowdfunding and its release dates have never been set in stone. I'm personally just fine with them taking all the time they need so long as there is indication of progress, because they're building something on an immense scale and scope not yet seen in gaming, in terms of both technical complexity and in-game system depth. Doing it right is far more important than doing it fast. Could they have had some basic single player title with a dogfighting multiplayer?. However, it would not be anything like the passenger transport or science/farming/medicine systems that we've seen being built and that is what I find exciting - a blue sky project, hopefully done right. Time will tell, but I see continual evidence they are making good on their promises bit by bit.

No, because there wasn't a damn bit of actual gameplay.

The CryEngine cant possibly support a majority of the "persistent"-universe and MMO features they are touting. This game will not come out the way fans think it will and CiG will move from being transparent to ducking and obfuscating development until fans loose interest and they file for Bankruptcy.

The faster people realize this the better, DayZ as a ZOMBIE game has had broken zombies since inception. It will never get fixed and it will never change they already have close to 3 MILLION peoples hard-earned cash and the game hasn't left alpha since 2013 on a modified VR3 engine. The game has lost its kinetic advantage and now sits in the dumps with a skeleton playerbase. Much like BF: Hardline aka don't expect development to continue. The Investment has been spent and anything past that is loss.

People hate publishers like EA/Ubisoft/ect. because of their huge corporate clout, but its that clout and oversight that gets projects not only financed but published to the public with a reasonable level of quality.

Early-Access and crowd sourced games don't have that level of scrutiny, sure you can have a "transparent" development but is it really transparent? No... they know they have your money and you as a consumer breathing down their neck is nothing when they got cash in hand. A Corporate Exec and his handlers overseeing their investment is a DIFFERENT story...

Thus StarCitizen will never be what its fans want it to be a tragic story to a tragic game like MANY other Crowdfunded games

Don't you have a bowl of Cheerios to go piss in?

I, personally, find the ignore feature to work well with the arm pit of society.

Safe to tell the haters to STFU?

If anything, it gave them even more fuel.

Nah, it just wouldn't be the same without their antics lol. They are channeling their inner Vanduul.

The lack of self awareness is staggering.

I've seen more name calling towards critics than the other way around. Also, this isn't a backers vs non-backers thing.

Doing it right is far more important than doing it fast.

Doing it right != doing it slow. Doing it right/smart would be getting the essential features and fidelity done within a reasonable time-frame and budget and releasing it with reasonable delays, and then building up on that with more features and improved visuals.

So, I got rid of my 350r LTI and tali LTI base ship for a tali bomber with LTI. Now the question is: should I get rid of my Mustang Delta for a Gladius?

So, you'll feel good about a bunch of other people feeling bad? And furthermore, the ability to rub their disappointment into their faces you want to point out that you were right and they were wrong? Yikes guy.

Read Loriens posts throughout this thread and tell me he doesn't deserve it.

Looks like the suture alone ain't gonna gold, we might need the fibrin glue lol

And leave it to reddit to come up with stuff like this :D:
