Please can someone help me, I have ST31000528AS (Seagate 7200.12 1TB) old around 4 months. Hdd tune is showing some UDMA CRC Erorr count and Reallocated sector count..Is my disk ready to RMA or.... Tnx for answer.

1. Create Backup
2. Run Spinrite
3. Test with Seatools
 
I'm not sure that HD Tune reads Seagate HDD SMART info correctly. Compared with those from WD HDDs, the numbers from Seagate HDDs look quite funny. Any experiences?
 
try seatools
there is a windows and DOS version
a downloadable ISO creates a bootable CD

if the drive is kaput seatools will yield a return code
this code is then used in the seagate RMA process
 
I was not able to see SMART info for external drives with Seatools. But, WD tools displayed that information surprisingly! My WD Raptor (50+ reallocated sectors) was not detected with WD tools, but Seatools was able to scan the drive :).

Guess it's worth trying many tools.
 
Yes i have connected it to sata interface..funny seatools for windows doesn't work.. i have win7 x64, i'll try it under dos...
