Hi

Your assistance needed please...

I have an ASUS P5L - VM1394 motherboard which has a SATA connector (SATA 1, I believe).

Will this Kingston 120GB SSD 2.5-inch V300 SATA 3 drive work on my build bearing in mind its SATA 3 and mine is SATA 1??

Thanks in advance!!!

yeah you're fine.

the SATA spec is intrinsically backwards compliant, so your motherboard will attempt to drive the SATA 3 controller on your drive at SATA 1 speeds, and the drive will simply accept that.

And before anyone can chime in about the performance hit, the drive will saturate the SATA-1 bus, but that wont really impact your performance improvement. The value of an SSD comes in the dramatically reduced seek times, from 10ms down to ~0.1ms, a speedup of 100x, and the overall throughput of a bus has no impact on seek times.
