Spacers on Windows Tool Bar (start menu)

I'm working on somebody laptop right now. Trying to fix it. And it's just not happening.

When you minimize something it disapears just like if you were to close it.

The tool bar does not have a space after the quick launch icons. It has the start button, a spacer, then the icons. But it needs another spacer.

How do I get this? I know it's really simple in Linux but I just cant figure it out in Windows.

Please help quick. Thank You!!!

Not sure exactly what you're getting at, and it's probably late, but...

right click on the task bar and you'll have a "lock the taskbar" option. either check it or uncheck it depending on if you want to see the slider handles for those toolbars. you can also just turn off those toolbars in the same right click menu.
