Soyo 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor DYLM24D6 $300 again

its on sale again, what a suprise:D

why don't they just change its price to $300, its on sale almost every week, lol

I can personally account for 3 of these that I know of that are pushing 6 mos w/ absolutely no problems. Great monitor and killer price considering the weakness of the dollar.

so is the 6ms version just as good as the 3ms? i was about to order and i saw it changed to 6ms ;/////////////////////////////////////

So will this do 1080p through hdcp?

I am lazy and don't feel like research or reading right now.

I own two and I am very happy with mine. Highly recommended.

These shouldn't be TN panels. All the older models are NOT. This really is a great price for a great monitor.

I just picked one of these up tonight. EXCELLENT monitor. My only issue is that it doesnt tilt. No dead pixels, bright as hell. I ended up applying for the officemax card and got it for 259+ tax with 12 months same as cash :)

I could be wrong, but I don't believe it has HDCP, so it won't be possible to play Blu-Ray or HD-DVD movies on it (unless you go through a lot of trouble).

I got a new Platinum card, and decided this was a good way to break it in....

I checked the local store, and they were all gone. I went online, and first it said it was discontinued. Then it came back, and I tried to order. The website threw an error: "Error processing your request." So, I tried again, and got the same error, so I gave up.

Then, I got 2 e-mails, with different order numbers. Ruh-oh!

I e-mailed OMax, asking to have the second order canceled, and got this reply:
"I was unable to locate any order in our system with the information provided. It is possible that the second order did not process."

I've asked them to check and see if either order was processed, b/c when I log in, My Account still looks like this:

I might have 48" of sweet love coming my way....

Does this have a glossy screen?

edit, never mind, just realized SOMEONE decided to bump a long-dead deal thread for no reason

Actually, it does tilt; you just have to force it a bit if its stuck. I didn't have any problems tilting the screen but some found it a little tight.

I've had mine since Black Friday and I've had no problems at all.

Great monitor at the price.

Does not have HDCP, but it's not a bunch of hoops to jump through, you just need "AnyDVD"

The specs are good, but more importantly the monitor looks great. It's a true 8 bit panel, not a TN, and once you see the difference side by side I don't think many would ever choose the TNs.

Archea, I noticed you use it with Vista, even though it is not "Vista Certified". Does it just use a generic driver?

I think that is a bunch of marketing BS. Rest assured, it works fine on Vista.

another thing to keep in mind is that this doesn't do 1080 on my xbox360. i've heard other people have this problem too. now i have no problem running 720, but i can imagine some people might

It works fine on 1080p 1920x1080 on the VGA adapter on mine??? Not sure why it wouldn't work on yours. Unless I'm crazy I believe I tested it on all resolutions...The problem is since the native is 1920x1200 on the monitor and the xbox does 1920x1080 (1080p) - there is minor stretching going on.

Google Vista Certified, It simply means HDCP compliant

This monitor does not have HDCP. Therefore without software intervention or hacks you cannot watch HD-DVD nor Blue-Ray on this monitor. Vista certified means nothing more than that. Yes it does work on Vista for everything else and works quite well. Vista even has a driver for it other than "generic" that it uses by default.

Blu-Ray or HD-DVD movies on it (unless you go through a lot of trouble).

Not really, you turn on AnyDVD and it automatically disables HDCP encryption for your HD-DVD/Bluray player.. it literally takes no effort once you have AnyDVD...

That is if you're going through a computer... it doesn't do 1:1 scaling anyways so computer is the only way to use it.

I'm bidding on a $30 off $150 coupon for when they drop below $300 again so I can grab a 2nd one :)

The damn site didn't mind taking my order (at least) twice, but wouldn't take my $30 off coupon. I'm showing over $1000 charged to my brand new card. OMax better make this right.

in the sale thread going on when i bought this thing people were saying it got cut off. i bought it, bought the ms vga adapter, and when i ran it at 1080, a big chunk of the right of the screen was missing. i chalked it up to getting what i paid for and was happy at 720

now though...now i might be peeved

It doesn't matter if you're using 720p or 1080p in this case. These consoles don't have the horsepower to run any games smoothly at 1080p anyway so all you would get is upconverted 720p. I'd be more worried if I owned a PS3 and was interested in BR movies because those you can see in 1080p.

i'd have to get it from officemax. need to see in store if it has a dead pixel or not ;)

Wouldn't matter anyway. You couldn't use a PS3 with this monitor. The PS3 requires HDCP support on the DVI or HDMI ports in order to display video.

ROFL....the 6ms "version" is tons better than the 3ms "version". One is a P-MVA screen and the other a cheap TN screen.

Back again, ordered my 2nd one ~ an hour ago

the $30 off $150 coupons do work, I got mine for $270 + tax + free shipping :)

i hate you :p

i need to get a second one. if the one that arrives in the mail has dead pixels, is it easy to just take to the store and swap it? thats what i did but i had one i bought in store.

It should be that easy, I hope I don't have to though, I bought mine from the store and it was perfect, but it was a 30 minute drive, which is why I ordered it online this time...

ah

my store is only 10-15 minutes away :). u shoulda had me do it and i coulda shipped to u while testing it :D:D:D

anyways probably just cheaper to drive there urself if u have to exchange rather than ship ;)

i wonder when i get a second one how good these will go with my westy for a triple monitor setup? :)

I can't imagine using anything but a PVA (or better) panel for my main work anymore... I just can't get any TN panels to look right.

And I'll probably get one of those dual LCD mounts, and wanted matching monitors... $300 for PVA 24" Monitors + $40 for a dual LCD mount is perfect... some people are spending $650 just on a single Dell 24"... :)
