SoundBlaster X-Fi ?

Hope this is the right place for this question. I noticed that my X-Fi has a small power connector, kinda like floppy drive has! Is it necessary to plug in the power connector for full usage? Thankz

Its only necessary if you have the front I/O breakout box like the Fatal1ty X-Fi FPS or the external box with the X-Fi Elite Pro. I have the X-Fi Elite Pro, the card runs fine without the connector but the external box wont work.

So for a X-Fi Extreme Music without the breakout box the connector isn't needed.
