ok so recently ive been having trouble with my sound. when i restart my computer the sound works fine for a few minutes. then it shuts off. when i go to sounds in the control pannel it tells me i have no audio device instaled (when working properly it shows REALTEk AC97 Audio) my computer still plays system sounds, although if i try to play them from the sounds screen they do not work. i tried redownloading Sndvol32.exe but when i try to run itm told i have no mixer devices available. to make matters worse my windows update hasnt been working for a while. when i ran my virus scan it autodeleted a virus to do with volume control but i didnt pay much attention to it because i thought the problem would be fixed, it wasnt.
im using an HP computer that is about a year and a half old. i bought it at costco so i dont know all the inner specs of the sound card and all but im guessing its some kind of virus problem. can anyone help me out?
