Soulja Boy may be getting a visit from Nintendo’s lawyers sooner rather than later: while legal action seemed inevitable after the rapper announced he would be selling video game consoles that appear to infringe on copyright laws, Soulja may have directly incited the wrath of the Japanese gaming giant after taunting them on Twitter: “If Nintendo was gon do something they would have the first day. My console not going anywhere everything I’m doing is 100% legit stay mad and I’ll keep getting richer. ‘Nintendo ain’t gon do SH*T.’”
The consoles have attracted speculation over whether they could face legal action due to their resemblance to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Game Boy. The release of the Retro SouljaBoy Mini has particularly garnered comparisons to Nintendo’s gaming devices, which Soulja Boy addressed in a string of scathing tweets hitting back at the claims. In the since deleted tweets, Soulja Boy wrote: “I’m not scared of Nintendo or none of u f***ot nerds making YouTube videos eat a dick and thanks for the free promo.”
