A very useful feature (especially in the [H]ot|DEALS section) would be the ablilty to sort by the date the thread was started.

Currently it takes forever, digging through threads, trying to find the new stuff, as the new items quickly get swamped by older (possibly dead deals) that are still getting alot of posts.

Just a thought...

Well, the fact is that this is not currently an option in vBulletin, nor is customizing the software for every feature someone thinks would be nice to have. If there is enough demand, perhaps vBull will include it in a future release.

Actually is is already a feature in vBulletin 3, it just appears to be absent (disabled?) on this board. It is possible however, that this feature only applies to the default sort method, which would totaly ruin a forum of this size, and would be stupid to set as default sort method anyhow. In which case, ignore this paragraph.

An automatic 7 day (or less, maybe 4) loose sitcky (yes it can do those too) in the deal type sections would also have the same effect. But I'm not sure if vBull can do timed expiration stickies or not.

Also, this was just a comment, not a complaint or request. As I 100% understand that any feature that would reduce page views, and thus ad revenue, would never happen anyhow. And I totaly understand that. [H] is one of only two sites (2cpu.com being the other) where I intentionally DON'T block ads. Especially since they are mostly newegg ads, whom you guys turned me on to about 4 years ago, and I absolutely love.

Dohhh. I just checked my facts (maybe I should have done that before hand?), and that feature was on the plate for 3.1, but I'm not sure of its current status, and you guys are on v3 p1 anyhow, so it dosent matter.

The forum is presently at version 3.0.1 of vBull the upgrade/patch releases are up to v.3.0.9. The forum doesn't upgrade with each new patch release unless absolutely necessary for the obvious reasons with a board of this complexity. There will most likely be a major upgrade when the next full version is released. Hopefully, many of the problems listed in this Help Forum will be addressed.

vBulletin 3.0.9

"vBulletin 3.5 is rapidly approaching the time where it will replace vBulletin 3.0.x as the stable, supported release but until that time we continue to support and fix problems in the 3.0 series."
