Sony DRU510A - only 3.1 dvd burn in nero?

i just got this thing and its rated to burn every dvd rormat (except DVD-RW) at 4X but when i go to burn something in nero its only showing up a max burn speed of 3.1X....wheres my missing 0.9X burn speed?

Nero Version i am using is 5.5.10.20

Edit:
i have updated to 5.5.10.54 and now i can only burn at 2.4X
what the hell is going on
 
Well it coiuld be the media. I am currently using the same drive and the top half of the cake packed media burned at 3.9x and now I am in the middle and getting 2.4x. Sucks cause this is supposed to be 4x media. Oh well it was cheap and I didnt care. Alot of times with that drive it is picky with the media you give it. Good Luck. And the switching to the updated version of Nero probably just coincided with some bad media. Its a thought at least.
