I'm about to build a new rig and found following parts:

Silverstone SG03
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
Cooler SilverStone Nitrogen NT06-E
Corsair Dominator Twin2X4096-8500C5D 2x2 Gb
ASUS Maximus II GENE
Grafikkort XFX GeForce GTX 260 Black Edition
Harddisk Samsung SpinPoint F3 HD502HJ 500 GB
DVD Burner LG GH22NS50 Super Multi

The rig i mainly for use as a workstation. The plan was to take my Asus P5E-VM HDMI and eVGA GeForce 8800GTX from my gamerig and swap it with the Maximus II and the XFX GeForce GFX.
I still need a PSU, and was thinking about a Silverstone PSU together vwith a short cable set.

Thx. for any advice and ideas.

What country are you buying that setup in?
What are you planning on using this PC for?

@Danny
I'm buying in Denmark.... mainly.
The PC is ment as a workstation. I use it for ripping DVD's and CD for my Mediaplayer and Squeezebox duet.... creating ISO's and so on.
And it also functions as a backup gameRIG :)
OS Windows 7

I also thought about trying ITX boards.... but there is no room for my X-FI card :-(

Ok. Well definitely ditch the Dominator. They're rarely worth the extra costs nor do they offer that much of a performance increase over other RAM sets. In fact, in most real world scenarios, you would not notice an iota of difference between that Dominator DDR2 1066 RAM and some cheap DDR2 800 RAM with CAS 6 timings. So definitely find a cheaper RAM set.

GPU wise, here in the states the GTX 260 is heavily overpriced since you can get the equally fast HD 5770 for less or the significantly faster HD 4890 for about the same price. So unless you have some software that takes avantage of Nvidia's CUDA, I'd recommend going for the HD 5770 0r HD 4890. Hell depending on how much you saved on the Dominator RAM, you might be able to fit a HD 5850 card.

Thx. Danny
I'll see what other RAM there is... Maybe 4Gb Crucial DDR2 BallistiX TRACER PC8500

About the prices... i'll check them out, and give you an idea about europe prices. Denmark is normaly in the lower end if the pricescale :)

Yup exactly what I thought. Out of curiosity how much does the HD 5850 costs?

But yeah, in this case, a GTX 260 would not be a good buy for the money. The HD 4890 is faster than the GTX 260 but costs $62 or 200 Dkr less.

The XFX Radeon HD 5850 (1 GB) is around 2.000 Dkr around 378 USD
and Sapphire RADEON HD 5850 (1 GB) is 1.900 Dkr around 359 USD

BTW. the Corsair Dominator TWIN2X PC8500 4GB DDR2 costs 949 Dkr around 179 USD
and 2 Gb Crucial DDR2 BallistiX TRACER PC8500 costs 619 Dkr around 117 USD (4Gb double up!)

BTW. Who makes the fastest ATI cards, when talking about Radeon HD 5770 and Radeon HD 4890? Sapphire og maybe XFX ?

The Crucial Ballistix RAM sticks had a bit of a high failure rate IIRC. Try to find a different set.

As far as fastest ATI card, the speed differences are pretty minute. So basically, all those cards will perceptively perform the same in a person's eyes. So concentrate on other factors when buying a video card. Like who has the best warranty and customer support, best cooling, etc. Oh in terms of customer support and warranty, XFX beats the shit out of Sapphire.
