it seems there is no driver to enable Cool n Quiet feature on windows XP. I guess XP users have to suck it up until Windows 7?

yeah its a bios feature.. but with xp you have to download the cool 'n quiet drivers.. though windows is suppose to automaticly install them now..

its automatically supported in vista.. that is if you setup the correct profile..

but then again this is all a guess from me.. since ive never used the cool 'n quiet feature ever.. none of my amd processors have ever sat at stock speed for more then 1 boot up just to make sure everything was running.. then they were overclocked..

the processor drivers for windows xp are the cnq drivers - they work for all procs that support cnq and run on windows xp

I've been using this for a long time. It really helps when you want to overclock and run CnQ at the same time. ;)

doesnt work on the phenom II.. or atleast doesnt work for me.. it cant detect the correct multiplier steppings/voltages..

but ive been using it on all my amd laptops for a couple years now.. pretty nice being able to undervolt a turion x2 TL-60 from 1.175v to .9850v

man a 10 year old OS won't support something? what a surprise.

agree'd.. since cool 'n quiet didnt exist until after XP came out.. thus why it requires a driver which is usually provided by the motherboard manufacture to support it..

socket 754 was the first socket to officially have cool 'n quiet.. though its not the same cool 'n quiet being used on the 939/am2/am2+/am3 motherboards..

K10Stat is a great tool for controlling clock speeds.

PhenomMsrTweaker is also very helpful.

Note- I've only tried these on Windows 7 so i can' make any definate claims that they'll work on XP.

Can any of those be used to increase the core voltage when the CPU is throttled down? Basically my Phenom is perfectly stable at 235x11.5 and 1.3V, but it's not stable at 235x5.75 at 1.05V (default idle state) so I have to disable CnQ. I'm sure that if I increased the idle VCore to maybe 1.15V, it would be stable with CnQ enabled...

i havent bothered to play with any of those programs on my 940 since mine is at full load 24/7 last time i messed with them was with my brisbane x2 2350 @ 3.05ghz.. but yes they should allow you to control the voltage for each multiplier step..
