saw this too but I have heard not too great things about the fans on these. Also, these seem to be the non A chips not designed for OC. Looks like these cards top out around 1850-1900 after OC. Unless you are underwater. Good candidates if you are on water though. Still nice to see EVGA drop price on these to 999. It was 1099 last month. Which I thought was bullshit cuz EVGA originally announced it 999 lol.

Just an FYI, this is the 2nd or 3rd time these prices have dropped to $999 ... not sure if this is the new price but I doubt it. it doesn't happen very often.

I thought MSRP on the base model was $1199? Maybe that was just from nVidia direct.
thats just the FE version. nvidia went full retard doing that. im glad their stocks took a 44% dip.

Man, look ... if you guys love gaming, passionate about it ... start saving up your money, $40 and $50 here and there .. get your $1000 ready for the next 3080 Ti or whatever it's gonna be called.

It's not a deal. This is the normal price of the card. EVGA just did some shenanigans over the holidays by increasing the price on all their products by 10%.

props to sixfootduo for calling it out, as it is a reduced price on the 2080ti for those that are shopping for one. And he's right, they've done it a few times.
from a macro view, its sad that for $1k I still can't get substantially more performance than my 2 year old 1080ti (at my resolution and games of course).

So selling for MSRP? It's sad to see Nvidia cheap still = $1000 bucks!
I think Nvidia has a challenge ahead of itself if high end Navi / AMD (or whatever is out) is pricing itself at $700 and Nvidia is still targeting $999+ for it's card.
Personally I (and likely most people) go where the price / performance is best. I couldn't care less if it says Intel / AMD or Nvidia on it. Ryzen has proven that point n the CPU game. If in the future Intel or AMD GPU's can unseat Nvidia for the price, I would definitely go with that.

Meh, their flagship GPU MSRP has hovered around $650-750 USD going back to the 780 Ti days. Nvidia can feck off with their $1200 MSRP 2080 Ti. Even at $1k they're not fooling me into thinking this is a good deal.

Money generally is not an issue at all for me. However wasting money by not getting the value I want, is a problem.
I know some extremely wealthy people. And they didn’t become wealthy or maintain their wealth by wasting money on things they seen no value in, just for the sake of having it.
I’ve learned a lot from them over the years.
And I voted with my wallet, just like many many people did this time. nVidia will listen. Their stocks tanked and the straw will break the camels back.
20 years ago I spent all kinds of my hard earned money on the bleeding edge. But being in this hobby going on 25 years now, I wait for reviews and look for value. I don’t just bite at the shiny new object. That’s coming from a old school die hard pc gamer.

This, I dont think this is a special price. Ive witnessed this same price several times now. Though I disagree that its unusual. I'm holding off, I really believe prices are gonna crash in the coming weeks. 800 is a more realistic price for this. At least thats more my limit for the value this card represents over a GTX. I have the money I just dont need it and the prices are criminal.

Yep! This says it well. I'm willing to spend whatever I want (and can generally afford to) on anything that I want, but those things I actually spend money on are things that I think constitute a good value for the price. I'm still running a 980ti Windforce on an i5 processor that I bought used off an [H] member. I've been meaning to overhaul my hardware including upgrading my video card but, honestly, given the performance/price ratio of the cards on the market, doing that simply isn't a good value.
Nvidia needs to get it together in terms of pricing. They generally have provided a better performing and more integrated experience than ATi and, for years, they had significantly superior hardware. Now the hardware is equal or better, and Nvidia is over-valuing having a smoother experience.

I was thinking yesterday, as I looked at this thread, "I wonder if this is foreshadowing a lower price for the 2080Ti." Like, it may not be official from nvidia, but I could see the de-facto price coming down because most people just won't pay $1200 for a graphics card.
Based on a stroll down the graphics card aisle at my local Fry's, the 2080 is not a terribly fast seller. They don't even bother stocking the 2080 Ti. I'm not sure whether this is because they can't get stock, or they don't think anyone will buy them, but it's definitely different from late 2016 where you couldn't find a 1080 in stock anywhere.

I don't see the "smoking hot" component at all. It's been out for some time now, just not always in stock. It's also not a card you would want if you plan to overclock.

Theres something like 50+ available at my local microcenter I dont think they're selling well. Actually the Black edition is showing 1019.99 not even on sale. I imagine Microcenter will drop it to 899 any day now if sales are really that bad.
