Small compact laptop - What is out there?

Hey guys,

Currently I have a 12" Powerbook. I will be giving it to my girlfriend, and thinking that I am going to get a small and compact Windows based unit instead. What is currently out there for around $1000 bucks or so? I know that Dell makes a 12" version of their M series, how does that perform? Any other brand to consider? I know Sony have a few out, but they are pretty expensive.

Any suggestions are welcomed. I will Google search them and etc. if anyone can just provide the model number that I should be researching.

I was with you until the 1000 dollars.

I was going to say Sony TX or Thinkpad X series.

In your price range your looking more towards Averatec. Maybe a dell on some good coupon code. Though I'm not sure if they can compete at the same size.

I think you could get a dell 700m for that pricerange. It's a 12.1" widescreen if I'm not mistaken. Other companies make better small notebooks, but like the previous poster said, they're pricey.
