sli, does the brand matter?

i was wondering if i could use sli but with 2 different brands of the same card

for example i want to use an eVGA 7800gt with a BFG 7800gt, would sli work just how it is supposed to?

Yes, it would work just fine

I also think it was that if the two cards are not identical in clock speed, the clock on the card in the first slot will be the clock speed for the card in the second slot. So check your clock speeds.

ok thanks a lot, i dont actually have the cards, but im just making sure, so i can order a card now, and if the store i go to doesnt have the same card, i could get a differnet brand

Yep, it works just fine. If the two cards are not equal in speed, it will downclock the faster card to be equal in speed to the slower card.
