Ok so my 260s came in from stepup and i dusted off the 680i. Got everything installed and updated. Ran a few benchmarks just for grins to see how they matched up against my 4870 crossfire setup and the results are somewhat disappointing.

Q6600 running 4ghz stable (1.6v)
2 evga gtx 260s @700core
4gb OCZ Reapers at 800mhz 4-4-4-12
Vista home premium 64

My 3dmark06 score at standard settings didnt even break 20k :( I was able to hit nearly 22k on my crossfire setup.
Raised resolution to 1920x1200, 3dmark06 score only dropped about 500 points.
Pull out vantage. At performance setting it scored 19755, bumped it up to extreme settings and score dropped to only 8812.

Now, i know 3dmark  isnt a game and everyone is going to jump on me for using it, but this was just a quick and dirty test to check if everything was stable and to get some initial numbers. I'll dig crapsis out of the pile after work today and get some numbers off of that. But my question to you is this. Is the pci-e 1.1 holding these cards back?

what 680i board are you running? I thought the 680i boards were still 2x x16 slots for sli...

thats alot of volts in that chip, Anyway you can do 3.6ghz with 1.3volts??

Havent really tried checking what voltage the chip will stay stable at. I just know its stable at 1.4v 3.6ghz and just left it there. Only loads up to around 50C on water so never bothered.

Its an evga 680i A1.

I have a 680i (gigabyte ga-n680sli rev1) board with two gtx260s and I noticed large performance gains in games over my 8800GTXs but my 3dmark scores were not a lot different.. the only test which they did better was the HDR canyon flight test, they blew my old score out of the water.. I was a little disappointed but after playing games not so.. they for sure performed better than my old 8800s. so they seem pretty happy on the 680 mobo.. the pci-e slots have 16 lanes each, but are not pci-e 2.0...

edit: I guess the bench tests which were the same as the 8800s might be some cpu or mobo limitation I guess.. when I go x58 it will be interesting to see how that affects the numbers..
