sims 2 question on system req

ok right now my system is
3800+ x2
1 gig ram
2 6800gt sli

my questions is when i max out the settings on the game and speed the timing up in the game it gets a lil choppie and im trying to find out the week link im rebuilding my system right now. i picked up an A8N 32 sli m/b and a fresh set of corsair 2 gigs of ram will this help me out with the game or should i be canning the 6800s
 
does it get choppy at 2x also or just 3x? On any decent system it won´t chop at 2x but i´ve never seen it totally smooth at 3x.

well on my old 754 system with 1.5 gigs of ram and 1 6800gt it would run 3x all day fine as long as no other apps where running so i dont know.
 
and as far as textures in the game they are on point thats why im thinking is the ram and not the vid cards
