I think this is the lowest price that a Gen4 1TB NVMe with a solid Phison E16 controller and TLC has ever been. I was about to buy yet another Inland Premium 1TB Gen3, but couldn't resist this for $33 more.

Pretty sure it does rock. I'd love it if they were free, but for $120 more than that 2.5" drive, you are getting about 10X the max performance. They were $399 like 6-7 months ago. Frankly the 2.5" drive prices strike me as garbage. You can go to slower NVME drives than this one and pay the same price for 2-6x the performance as the 2.5". Paired with a b550 board, I'm seeing 4995.94 large file read speed. Honestly, I wish the 4TB versions of the 4.0 NVME drives were only double the price instead of 2.5x.

This is a Gen4 drive, thus the premium. A 2.5" SSD would be too much of a step backward, there's a big middle ground with high performing Gen3 NVMe SSD's.

Was determined to get a Gen 4 drive to populate the empty m2 slot on my x570 (first one has a 1 TB sn550, and already have 2 x 1TB Sata, 2x 500 GB SATA, 4x 250 GB SATA collected over the past 8 years...) but ended up getting the timetec for $70 instead, don't need the extra performance at all rt now...
