Dear participants!

Just now, your computers are hitting three protein targets at once. Due to the low runtimes and (mainly) the friendly contributions of participants and their teams, the data is being processed fast, and we express our gratitude to all of you.
We announce a new competition between teams, SiDock@home September Sailing. Top winners will get the badges:
1st place:

Heme B, the well-known ligand in the complex of Hemoglobin, helps to carry oxygen in our bloodstream. As we know today, it has emerged from just two mutations that occurred in genome of one of predecessors of modern vertebrates more than 400 million years ago [1,2].

Pi4 owners with spare cycles - this project (SiDock) is available in BOINC for Linux, and everything you need is in the repo.
No need to divert GPU resources from "other" endeavours :D

Ok. I'll put some rigs here. Let's hope we can get one of the team badges. Competition is pretty stiff out there, so as usual we need all hands on deck!

FYI, we got a team badge in the first Sidock challenge.

I think the server is struggling a bit to keep up. That, and it's a PIA to bunker any work at all.

Considering that this is a one week event, I think this is not that bad compare to the FB sprint. I think the project admin will try to iron out things like what they did in the pentathlon. Will see.

I'll add a few cores this week.

Still hot here so I won't be running all out.

I just picked up an HP z840 to tinker with and add to the winter events.

The a/c is still running here so heat is a problem but I put a few cores on it to help out. And I finally got some work a little while ago which I was hardly able to get anything other than an random work unit for a few hours.

You know, I'm not stranger to multi-CPU or multi-core rigs as I had a dual P2 system back in the day as well as multi-core since Core2 came out but I still don't get tired of saying "I'll throw some cores at it."

For the competition I'm slowly climbing the individual stats. According to the page posted above I'm at 110th in production of the people in the contest. That's a considerable jump from where I was a day or two ago. Hopefully I'll manage to hit at least the top 100. It would definitely help if the work units pending validation go through as I currently have 111 of them in limbo right now.

Also put a little bit more power into it than I had planned. My Ryzen 2600x was running 50% threads on WCG and I had planned on leaving it alone but swapped it to this. Also have my 5800x running 50-75% threads most of the time.

Downtime seems to finally be minimized as I don't think either machine has run out of work so far today. Hopefully that keeps up.

If this keeps up I'm going to have to overclock the Pi4. That ought to do it.

interesting that we have caught up a bit to Rech in the last day but doesn't look like we will pass

Yeah, it's a pity since we were closing the gap. There's no way it would have made up the difference but I should have swapped over my 2600x sooner.

This wasn't listed in the September events calendar, btw. Should it be added?

Are there any other new events not on the list?

Sorry about that. It was a last minute find and addition.

It was damn close and we almost had fourth place. I guess I have to take the blame for it. I might have been able to pull another 25% of my points if I'd gone all in from the beginning which would have been just enough to squeak past into fourth.

On a positive note I did manage to reach my goal of being in the top 100 of the people participating.

Nothing to be sorry about - just wondering if there are any others popping up that may not have been planned. Sounds like this sidock group is a bit random.

We finished 5th and missed the team badge. Thanks to all the participants.

Gratz to the top three teams (P3D, TAAT and SG in that order). Here are the final team stats.

Someone forgot to switch on the turbo booster during the last day.

The lack of notice did hurt a bit as there was no way to get running in advance. If there had been a few days notice some of us who weren't running it at the time could have gotten started early for some work to be pending and drop during the competition. That's even without any bunkering being done. For a competition I actually prefer little or no bunkering but it is what it is and I do do it from time to time if there's enough advance notice and I feel like taking the time to set up the bunker.

I'm not blaming anyone for short notice, though. And I did like having a small competition somewhat out of the blue to jump into.

Great work all - it is a lot of fun to 'compete' in projects that are competent and care (I'm sure the switch to longer runtime units was not accidental). And thanks for compiling and posting the stats analysis pututu! Now to (at least) my 10 million point target in this program!

A big thank you from sidock admin in our participation in this challenge.
Dear participants!

The challenge is complete. During this week, you have donated to the project about 306 years of CPU time and the performance of ~268 TFLOPS/s. A good part of tasks for each of the new targets is complete. We express our gratitude to all participants of the competition and the project and our warm congratulations to the winners:

2nd
place: TeAm AnandTech
3rd
