lately my system has been shutting down when a 2nd user logs on. meaning it will run fine if you boot up the system and go to your user but if you log off or switch user the next time someone else logs on to their desktop it will open any startup files and then shutdown.
Any ideas?

No one can help you until you answer a few questions:
  1. Are you overclocked?
  2. How much memory are you running?
  3. Is Fast User Switching on (you would know because you would have had to turn it off for it not to be).
  4. Have you disabled any services?
  5. Do you have a page file?
  6. Do you have any tweaking programs (rereg-"cleaner", xsetup, anything that would change the clock speed of any hardware) installed?

If you could answer these questions, then we'd have somewhere to start from.

The 1st thing I would try, is to revert back to one logon [more secure], meaning go to user accounts and change the way they logon, by unchecking the Welcome screeen, then rebboot, login from one window, the go there again, and chose Welcome screen + chech fast user switching, and logout & reboot.

What happens now.
