I am looking for a solution to shut off power to the GPU. Maybe insert a switch into the PSU power cable? Or is there a better solution?

When I am booting into Solairs, I only work and does not need the GPU. When I dual boot into Windows, I will game and turn on the GPU.

I don't remember that being possible, most vidcards that require extra power have an alarm on them. So if you power up the machine with the vidcard plugged on the pcie but no direct power from you PSU you will get beeps everywhere

...as far as I know

Unless you can cut off all sources of power to the GPU (impossible, as the PCIe specification feeds power), the GPU will see an error condition and likely fail your boot, as others have stated.

This. Even if you can cut the extra PCIE power cable, the slot still provides a hefty amount of power.
