Interesting layout, though I would have gone all 23" for proper PPI matching. Are you using Eyefinity/nVSurround?

Actually Holo, the wise wolf, appears frequently naked in Spice and Wolf since her true form is that of a wolf. Actually one of my favorite series and the first arc actually looks a lot like the area and city in Germany I'm from. Though that is a bit more suggestive fan art of Holo, more ecchi than hentai.

Nods, I was wondering because the bezels in the middle would drive me crazy if I was gaming on your setup. Do the PPI differences affect your work or do you generally not use it as a SLS?
 
Was wondering guys, Ive posted my triple monitor setup but the colours on the 2 flanking VE247H's were terrible.
I have two options right now. Get 3 IPS monitors
OR
2 IPS monitor flanking a 120HZ monitor. I game heavily but Im wondering whether or not this would look retarded? With all the beautiful colours on the sides but then some TN panel in the middle?
I will ONLY game on the 120HZ so theres no worries about the different refresh rates....
What would you guys take?

due to different applications on the screens it doesn't effect me. And the difference from the 23" to the 21.5" is little
 
I use 19" 1440 x 900's set back a bit on monitor arms with a 27" 2560x1440 and the ppi relative to my viewing distance, as well as the sizes relative to the 27" seem to match pretty closely. Setting them back about 10" at the furthest, angled inward basically shrinks them from my viewpoint. The "sidebar" 1440x900 portrait mode panels are TNs and do suffer shift/shadow, but they are filled with chat apps, email listing, volume mixers, download managers, progress meters, media playlists/songlists, etc... so it doesn't matter much, and the angling on monitor arms helps.

Personally I wouldn't mind oversized monitors (like ears) in portrait mode on either side either, if the ppi was close enough.
 
Portrait monitors are great for productivity (1200x1600 can show a 8.5"x11" document at 100% resolution without scrolling), but are a pain in gaming because neither Eyefinity nor nVSurround can do mixed portrait/landscape ie. PLP. That‘s why gamers who multimonitor go with 3 landscape or 5 portrait.

For those that are running 5 monitors in P mode what sizes are you guys typically running?? I have 5x Dell U2011's here and I am wondering if its worth to game with those screens. They are only 1600x900 Resolution.

900 is pretty darn narrow - I tried with 5 1920x1200 in portrait and I found the number of bezels annoying with a 33% wider screen. You are better off going 3 in landscape than 5 in portrait especially if they are that small. If you had 5 30" 2560x1600 *THEN* 5 in portrait starts looking good.

Eh.... 30" monitors are a little too big. You start to strain your neck / eyes to see stuff at the top and you may need to sit back to enjoy the large screen while gaming, which makes the extra resolution a little moot. 5x1P 22" 1680x1050 monitors were too small and the bezels started to take away from the experience. I found that 23" 1080p screens were good, but If I was to rebuild a 5x1P setup (which I do want to do) it will most likely be with 24" to 27" monitors probably at 1920x1200. Bezels can be minimized by debezeling and painting / taping the edges. If you want to do 5x1P, make sure to surround yourself and get fairly close to you monitors, otherwise the bezels will be distracting.

Great, thanks for the info... I was just playing around with the thought... I've had these dells sitting here for a while. They were my old set-up before I went to dell U2410s.

I have a extra gaming PC here and thought it would be cool just to set-it up that way.
Looks like I am going to try to sell those monitors and get something else. Thanks for the info..
 
Well, it was inevitable. I am an nVidia surround user. Next up is some beefier GPUs for these triple U3011s. I ordered a triple monitor stand so I don't have the furthest left monitor hanging off the desk. Should be here next week.






 
Went with the WSGF triple stand XL, looks like it will hold three U3011s but not have as much versatility since it is made for 27 inchers.
 
My school setup, Computer is also on the HDMI switch for the TV, generally for watching movies.




Will be there for another year, so wire management is coming! :D

Wow that is like my dream setup right there. Someday I hope to have a similar arrangement in my house.
