Holy crap! Those monitors look amazing, but not sure if I'm keen on contending with so many lines whilst gaming... How does it go normally?

Jesus christ!

Thanks

Nice setup suiken_2mieu

Im thinking of doing the same if the AMD 8970 are good.

Check out my Debezelled monitor thread for help with removing bezels on monitors.

Very nice, good thing I didn't have to debezel mine. I wonder just how small the bezel would get if I did.

Also, I have the same mic, I love the yeti.
And the same wheel...

I like your taste in accessories.

The number of line don't really matter while gaming to me. It's the orientation, and just how wide those line are. Here are my past 5x1 Setups:

23" Dell S2309W (TN) 1920x1080 (5400x1920)
32243_1409342106276_5573720_n.jpg

I bought a Dell 3007wfp-HC and it blew these TN gamma shifting panel out of the water. I proceeded to buy 4 more over the years.

30" Dell 3007wfp-HC (S-IPS) 2560x1600 (8000x2560)
422581_3115067588347_62756859_n.jpg

It was too big, and there wasn't a powerful enough card with the right outputs to run them. I downsized to 3 in landscape.

22" Dell 2209WA (e-IPS) 1680x1050 (5250x1680)
536253_4146295248394_1497540288_n.jpg

I wanted my 5x1 Setup back, but these were too small, but the nail in the coffin was the resolution. WAY Too small for my taste. These how ever mad me love 75 Hz and above. In which I still have two for sale if anyone is looking ($100).

So I upsized and slimmed down the bezel to these awesome new screens. They aren't perfect, but it's a hell of a setup. I'm using these instead of my 30"rs at the moment, and so far they are good for everything except watching movies / videos that need sub-titles.

The slimmer bezels look like a definite improvement. Curious as to how you compare them to your 3 x 30's in either PPP or LLL?

Well, 5x1 Portrait is taller and crisper. I'd have to say it's at the right height and cover most of my vision. I like these for shooters and flying games. This configuration is also very good for internet browsing, video editing, and audio editing.

3x1 Landscape with 30" monitors is wider, but much more gpu intensive. I like these more for racing games, and older games. This configuration is better for watching movies.

Do you want a 3x1 portrait *AND* a 3x1 landscape, or just a 3x1 you can pivot when you are in the mood?

I updated my setup with a WSGF mount, modified to work with my triple U3011 setup, the sides were sagging so much they couldn't be lined up.

Now it works perfectly with extra room on the vertical access. I am very happy with the results.

I like the idea, but haven't looked into it.... Mostly when I see debezzled monitors the bezel is replaced by an ugly metal frame I am not a big fan of.

It looks like the pole is bending in the pictures... It's the fisheye effect of the 18-200mm lens I used on my D90. The mount and pole assembly is incredibly sturdy. I recommend it to any with large monitors wanting a stand, the 30 inchers just need a little extra support on the sides.

This has always been one of my favorites. Clean set up, nice desk and layout, well arranged. And it seems like you have done a lot with a relatively small office space.

Edit: What desk is that btw?

It's from havertys. I don't think they carry it anymore. The space isn't as small as it looks, there is just some massive monitors on that side of the room. Walking in and it is nice and open.

Ahhh, made the assumption based on the room width and lack of the 4th wall pic :) Still a nice setup!

Will check Haverty's website and see if they have something similar. Very handsome desk.

@vc_hi: Nice. I had a similar setup not too long ago. Do you game on it? When I had 5 30"rs, I could only play older games.

Yes. Wargame: AirLand Battle, Strike Suit Zero, Borderlands 2, Sins of a Solar Empire, Starcraft 2 and WoW. AirLand Battle looks great at 8000x2560 with Crossfire.

However, Eyefinity is pretty finicky. Especially when you run it at 8000x2560. Too many issues over the years (Monitor, EDID, Dual-Link DVI & Displayport Cables, Displayport Adapters, USB Power for Displayport Adapters, Pin 20 for Displayport Cables, Video Cards, Video Drivers, Windows 8/7, Video Games, DirectX 8/9/10/11, Fullscreen vs Windowed, Crossfire and Running Separate Video Cards [Multiboxing], etc). I've been working through each issue one by one trying to make the setup stable.

The following games have native support at 8000x2560 in fullscreen mode:
Wargame: AirLand Battle
Strike Suit Zero
Borderlands 2

The following games require the config file modified for 8000x2560 in windowed mode:
Sins of a Solar Empire
Starcraft 2
WoW (Multiboxing)

There's more games. But I will have to draw up the list. It will take some time.

I remember all those issues, and it's why I downsized to 5400x1920. I worked through them, but if one adapter broke, I had to reset every monitor and adapter, plus I had sooooo many cables to each monitor. Power, DVI, USB hub, dp->dvi adapter, usb power, etc. I was using 5x3007wfp-hc's with dp->dvi adapters.

As time goes on, AMD (and other component hardware and software manufacturers) is making Eyefinity more stable.

As for Windows 8/8.1, I don't think Eyefinity is ready (@ 8000x2560). Upgraded twice only to reformat twice and go back Windows 7. Eyefinity does not work at that high of resolution. Now, if you ran all the monitor individually without Eyefinity, then it work fine. I did this in between formats with an additional Dell touchscreen monitor and it was a interesting experiment but not being able to play video games kind a forced me back to Windows 7.

Any spare DP > DVI Adapters :D?

I first tried 5x1P Eyefinity with Apple miniDP > DL DVI adapters, very bad mistake. I should have checked the AMD certified components website and even then, some of those components were still not DP compliant (20 pin issue).

I would like to see if the above adapters will work with Eyefinity when Mac OS X "Mavericks" comes out later on this year.

If you're aiming for 8000x2560 and/or 120Hz, try check out the Club 3D MST Hub and Dell U3014 monitors. Maybe that might help in cutting back on adapters to some extent (less troubleshooting).

None that reliably work. Unfortunately.

In regards to the DP to DVI adapter... have you found any that work reliably? I bought some of the active ones from StarTech, but they aren't without their challenges. Where possible I just connect my 30's through DP directly, but a couple of them don't have DP available...
