Should this Cause A Botcott of ME3 ?

I seem to remember there being more of an uproar about ME2 NOT having same-sex relationships beyond the token Femshep/Asari possibilities. Nevermind the different-species sex scenes...

The dislikes on the video? Half of them are probably a response to Hamburger Helper saying ME3 is best played with a male gay Shephard.

LOL! What a fucking stupid thing to be concerned about. Did Kyle just poof the OP because of this stupid thread? If so, bravo good sir, bravo.

Did you play Quake 2? Bitterman was a homosexual.

Oh wow, the "so and so was gay too" argument.
Whether he was a representation of a gay, or not, is pretty meaningless to me. You are dealing with a preference to not see something I don't like. How the hell do you try to argue against that? Oh yeah, with the, "so and so was gas gay too", argument. LOL....:p

I thought this thread was going to be about Day 1 DLC.... I have to admit I laughed a bit when I read what the OP was originally complaining about. He sounds like a prettty big homophobe to me. Did you boycott your local theatre forever after they showed the movie Brokeback mountain?

How about after Jurassic Park? There was some male dinosaur on male dinosaur action going on there since they were all male and then used lizard dna to transgender sex-jump to female and made love together. So that was a male having sex with a male post-op. That's pretty gay.

Did you boycott your local movie theatre after Titanic? How about after watching Titanic? It's clearly pretty gay. What straight man can spend 1 hour painting a naked woman in a bath and not get a boner and make love to her after the painting? Clearly a homophobe. I mean, Leonardo Dicaprio meets Kate Winslet after getting in a 'wrestling match' with some heardy-looking dudes after a poker match. You know wrestling matches with hardy dudes makes the move pretty gay.

Did you boycott your local theatre after watching the Shawshank Redemption? Pretty sure Andy got rapped by those three male guys(the sisters?) in the laundry room a few times before he fought them off.

I was hoping for a Hanar and a Asari to make out in the game

My Femshep's been eating box and scissoring aliens since the first game, so this is a non-issue.

I can see the OP's point. There is a difference between getting scolded for peeing on the carpet and getting your nose rubbed in it. I'm not homophobic at all, but I don't want to see it.

Let me re-phrase the question, will you play Mass Effect 3 regardless the content or does the inclusion of same sex romance turn you off enough to not buy the game? I personally do not want any sex scenes and such in a PC game.
Pretty simple choice for you, don't like it don't buy it.

I am boycotting ME3 because it's not on Steam, that's the choice I made. To each their own.

I don't care about this. If you don't want to see such things in the game don't choose the actions that would lead to it. Simple as that.

This comment makes you look incredibly immature and doesn't help your cause.

I thought the bluntness was funny.
Also, why is this news to anyone? I'm pretty sure guy-on-guy action has been in the game since the first one. I recently played through both games without getting ANY action without even trying to avoid it so that's not a valid argument either.

Would you boycott greek/roman/all history because it has gay content? It's there if you want to see it, but you're not forced to seek it out, just like the game.

There is evidence to support the idea that BioWare planned for same sex relationships for both genders in the very beginning. In fact ME1 save data actually shows romance progress with Ashley and Kaiden for both male and female characters. It's represented in values from 0-6 with I think Kaiden or Ashley being capped at 3 or 4 depending on your Shepard's gender. This is actually different from how data is represented in the file for other relationships such as Shepard and Garrus. Garrus has many more interesting values for his friendship / story progression. He's the only character which Shepard can influence the alignment of in the first game. This carries over into ME2 with regard to his default behavior. The point being, that Kaiden isn't treated like Garrus for a male Shepard, but rather he's treated like Ashley and Liara. And no, it isn't the friendship or conversation process. In my save file from the first game I romanced Liara, her relationship progression value is 6. Ashley's is 1. I took her conversations as far as I could in the game, but I told her early on I wasn't interested in her. This was after accidentally triggering the romance sub-plot with her before picking up Liara. Kaiden's on the other hand was shows as a 3. I took his conversation options as far as I could go, and that's the value I got. Garrus's behavior is listed in values of 0-6 as well, but he also has paragon / renegade alignment data and the values are assigned to that, not just his progression. So he's treated very differently. Wrex and Tali are simply recruited or not. So even if Garrus is a special case, the developers seemed to have designed the game with the possibility of same sex romances from the start. And again I say this because Kaiden or Ashley could have been treated more like Wrex or Tali depending on your gender. Kaiden and Ashley are more or less interchangable in Mass Effect. In other words, the relationship values only needed to be tracked for either Ashley / Kaiden and Liara. Not all three.

I think in the end BioWare decided to play it safe with ME1 and only allow a psuedo lesbian relationship between a female Commander Shepard and Liara who is by definition not exactly female nor male. Thus it's more of a Xeno/Human relationship and not a lesbian one by definition. Though the second game sort of contradicts her in game description of Asari and confirms that all Asari are more or less female. Medically they'd all have to have some kind of birth canal and they clearly all have breasts. So while monogendered, they are basically female from a human standpoint. But by muddying the waters with the Asari and their reproductive process, they made the lesbian relationship more "OK" than it might have ordinarily have been. Clearly the model between Ashley and Liara is interchangable in the sex scene as only their heads and skin tone change. Otherwise it's precisely the same. In ME2 Liara is remodeled and is clearly different from Ashley. But it gives further credence to the fact that they made it on a design level possible for you to romance either Ashley or Liara with either male or female Shepard.

In ME2 they really avoided the controversy as the sex stuff was tonned down quite a bit for the most part with the only possible exception being the scene with Miranda, which shows you less nudity, but is far more carnal in how it's portrayed. And really to continue the relationship with Liara and a female shepard, you have to have the Shadow Broker DLC. The scene in that is extremely tame in comparison to the scene in the first game. Which for those who may not recall all you ever really got to see was female on female kissing, some small shots of side boob and Liara or Ashley's asses. Liara actually has some extra shots that Ashley doesn't in the first game. In the second game you get to see Miranda clad in a black lace bra which she doesn't remove and that's pretty much it.

I think for the third game, they'll make the move toward allowing you to do pretty much what you want relationship wise because people not only wanted it, but the controversy generated isn't likely to hurt sales of the game. If anything they'll sell more copies as a result of it. "No publicity is bad publicity" as the saying goes. Many people have so much time and effort invested into the first two games that they'll pick up the third one just to see how it all ends.

History and entertainment are sort of two different things. Don't you think accepting that there have been gays since forever, and not embracing gay content in an entertainment medium are two different things?

How can ts even be offended by this, look at the tag that should say gawd something next to his name. He is either trolling or being trolled I guess.

Kyle changed his title. He reserves the right to do that when people post something exceedingly stupid.

Except that no one is asked to embrace it. It is an option if you want to go that route and you will be completely shielded from it if you make more traditional dialog option choices.

Guys, you're missing the point. tomana clearly isn't a homophobe - he just doesn't want gay sex in a PC game. That's what his weekend parties and airport bathrooms are for!

Or maybe he just prefers his gay sex on consoles?

I say we launch an [H] commando raid on tomana, strap him to a chair, Clockwork Orange style and make him watch all the potential gay sex scenarios from all three Mass Effect games.

I am definitely boycotting ME3 unless they let Shep bugger a keeper. I scanned all of that sweet keeper ass in ME1, now it's time to tap it.

You know you don't have to scan all of them to complete that quest right?

I'm boycotting it because I heard the dude foreplay has much to be desired. I need to be handled gently. My butt is like a tender flower.

(Secretly hopes there's master chief DLC)

You know, there's actually about the same amount of dude wang in straight porn as gay porn which means even if you only watch straight porn you're still gay and every time you pee you're looking at dude wang which also makes you gay.

Holding your naked new born son = gay
changing your sons diaper = gay
Greek history class = gay
anatomy class = gay
showering = gay
peeing = gay
rectal exam = gay
having sex with the light on (you saw your penis) = gay
playing with yourself = gay
applying a condom = gay
going to the zoo = soooooooooooo gay
getting punched in the groin by a dude = gay

I'm sorry dude no avoiding it. You're gay. Accept it. Buy ME3 and be gay like everyone else.

LOL :D

Bingo! What does Valshistixol win?

in 5 - 10 years we'll be debating the merits of pedo and animal action in video games.

That's what Fox News was telling me! If we let those gays have vidya game romances, next we'll have dinosexual and robosexual romances!

I'd get it on with a robot if it looked like the new Sports Illustrated cover girl. Great sex and the robot can cook up a steak dinner afterwards with no complaints about emotional bonding.

I'm just waiting for Oedipus Rex - the videogame! I mean, just look at what the Greeks wrote...clearly thinking about that stuff caused the decline of civilization! Wait a second...

Who says we have to wait 5-10 long years? Sweet sweet lovin is available now! What do you think the robotic dog DLC included in the collector's edition is for?

A Robotic Dog: A faithful sidekick to keep you company on board the Normandy.

Oh yeah!

Oh yeah!

It's a robot AND a dog! You be dogosexual and robosexual at the same time! Someone alert the OP, the boycott must be doubled!
