It's not really, because for some people every $100 means a lot. I.e. some people can only afford a $100 card, some people only a $200 card. some people only a $300 card, some a $400, some a $500, etc.

If you look at it, Nvidia has the bases covered quite well:

$50 - MX 4000
$75 - FX 5200
$100 - FX 5700LE
$125 - FX 5700
$150 - FX 5700 Ultra
$175 - FX 5900XT
$299 - 6800
$399 - 6800 GT
$499 - 6800 Ultra

The $299 6800 fills in a nice price/performance gap between the 5900XT and 6800GT for those who can't afford a 6800GT.

Looks like a good VC to have for a secondary system, but I couldn't run happily at the numbers that card produces according to the review. The 6800U better be fast or it's going on Ebay. lol
