i have two machines running windows xp pro
they are both connected to a dsl modem/router combo(westell 327w)
i want to be able to share files between the machines, but do not want one of them to have internet access
it was my thinking that this would have to be done inside the routers configuration, but i could not find a setting to do this
is this even possible?, either on the machine side, or the router side

thanks for the help

dont know about the router you have but my linksys will disable the web for certain times of the day that i decide. Check your router config.

On the machine that you do not want internet access on, just set an invalid default route.

there is no configuration inside the router to disable net access, at least not that i can find
invalid default route? sorry i don't follow, can you explain

There was a thread about the same thing a week or so ago (try a search).

The super easy way is to set a static IP address and leave the gateway entry blank. Then you would have to limit admin access if you don't want people to be able to change that.
