Middle-Earth: Shadow of War moves to the number one spot on the Crack Watch list in just one day of its release. Thanks to the awesome abilities of Denuvo anti-tamper technology, which is becoming the poster child for expensive bloatware. It is a shame that us gamers that buy the games have to continue to pay for this crap. Crack Watch is not to be confused with Everett Tweaker Live cam.

New crack, same as the old crack?

I go on-site in Everett fairly regularly for work...didn't know this was a thing, lol.

There are definitely some sketchy areas.

Yarite. Even if there were no lootboxes, was reviewed 10/10 everywhere and went on sale for $4.99, pirates would still steal it.

in the beginning Denuvo getting cracked was news since it was supposedly much tougher to do...but now it seems every Denuvo game gets cracked and is just another paper thin anti-tamper technology

pirates aren't cheapskates, they just have the philosophy of- why should they pay for something that they can get for free

I can say that at $59.99, I will not buy it. At $4.99, I would buy it. I may or may not have pirated a game at some point in the past, but at $4.99, I would just buy it. So even though you're bound to say that's irrelevant, technically, I'm one person, so if I don't pirate it is less people than potentially before, hence "less people would" is a technically correct statement.

I'm with Kirby on this one. I would've eventually bought it on sale, somewhere near $30, but specifically because of the boxes/microtransactions I won't ever. I also won't pirate it but it's still a lost sale.

me too. My time is worth more than 4.99, so I'd rather buy it instead of clicking hundreds of zippyshare links.

Maybe publishers wouldn't make much of a profit at 4.99, but they would sell a fuck ton more copies.

I fully intend to buy this when I have time to watch it... when the game has been patched 4 or 5 times.... during a steam sale for no more then 10 bucks tops.

I could warez it but why really ? Its going to be what a 100+ gb download of a version that will need 4 or 5 stability patches in the first 2 months that will likely be 40+ gb each themselves. I'll wait for the sale at the 6 month mark if it sucks... if it doesn't I'll wait for the game of the year edition sale in 12 months instead. lol

Obviously the game just came out, but so far it seems super stable. So they probably won't need a lot of performance or stability fixing patches. Maybe some tweaks, but it does appear to be a really solid PC version. But we'll see as people start getting further into the game and trying to break things.

At this stage I must question why Denuvo still exist as a concept these days...

The length of time it takes to get Denuvo cracked, you might as well just sell it DRM-Free, saves the programmers from having to write the code in and the end result is basically the same...

Plus microtransactions an gambling (loot boxes) with your standard free-to-play 2 forms of currency.

WB really is one of the absolute worst publishers there is. For all the hate that EA and Ubisoft get, WB does even more bullshit.

At this point (unless you are a college student with no money) buy the dang game if you are planning to play it. There are a lot of professional workforce adults on these forums - and to see all this talk of stealing the game is absurd.

I was a huge fan of Titan Quest. I remember when the studio went under they put the blame solely on the pirates publicly. They could tell how many pirates there were because of the online multiplayer component. It was something like 85% of the multiplayer player base had pirated the game. They shuttered their doors due to low sales, but meanwhile had a huge player base. Ultimately, it's the players loss because it was a top shelf game and a top shelf studio. I would have like to see what else they did in the future

Just because you can - doesn't mean you should...

This, a million times over. Claiming piracy doesn't hurt anything is kidding yourself. Buy what you want to play, don't pirate it and then claim you don't get why studio's aren't happy with sales.

With the amount of fun I had with the first, this probably would've been a pre-order. Thanks to the bullshit they added it's a GOTY sale or maybe G2A just to say fuck off WB...

You do realize g2a is mostly stolen keys by sellers mass buying using stolen credit cards, right?

I actually don't understand the rationale behind buying games off 3rd party sites like GMG or G2A instead of buying them through steam... You basically lock yourself out of all possible refund routes by using a 3rd party, and the prices are not that much cheaper either.

I haven't bought a single game (apart from physical games that just happen to be able to be added into steam library) for steam outside of steam or Valve boxes.

Don't lump in greenmangaming with g2a. Gmg is legitimately a vendor, for the keys they sell :).
