i just bought 2 used RT8N1 0RT8N1 MELLANOX 10GBe and one sfp+ cable (Cisco SFP-H10GB-CU3M)

i want to use them in PC to NAS (synology DS3615xs) cofig

the nic's were detected by both the windows 10 pc and the synology nas as (5th interface) < i only have 4 1GB nic's orgenaly on the nas so i think it get detected

the problem is when i attach the sfp+ cable between the two nic's they didnt light up and in both windwos 10 and synology it says "The network cable unplugged"
does it need special config for it to "just" light up

the cable seller told me that the cable support direct attach so i dont know where is the problem

It may just be a dirty cable. I use a lint free cloth and some 99% alcohol to clean the ends when SFP cables don't work.

Twinax is not fool proof - it's most likely not compatible with either the Synology or the NIC in your PC. Getting 10G-SR SFP's along with some MM fiber is probably your best bet.
